SQ_Crazies wrote: They aren't Steubenville boys just like those boys that play for Mooney aren't Youngstown boys...you can't accept it that you can pull in the best talent from your area, and Mooney can do the same but Youngstown whoops Steubenville's behind in football. Just imagine if Mooney REALLY tried to recruit--take the best players from Poland, Campbell, Canfield, Howland, Salem, etc, etc, etc, and add them to what Mooney already has. You can't touch Y-Town football and it kills you so you have to pull out the recruiting line all the time, when everyone and their brother knows Big Red might as well be a private school.
Haha who are you talking about???? Who whoops Big Red's behind from Youngstown???? In my lifetime Mooney and Big Red are 1-1 and I believe Big Red "whooped' on Ursuline just not too long ago....I know lifetime it's 4-1 Mooney but even at that, I don't think Big Red "can't touch Y-town football". Maybe you can say Big Red can't touch Mooney football.

When on earth did I pull out the recruiting line???? I'd love to see it. It shouldn't be hard I've only opened this thread at 10:00 last night.

More BS from SQ....you are one high-strung dude.

Now make like the Y-town teams and drop Big Red...

Mooney football is the best representation of Youngstown football and you want to talk about how they recruit--look how many other great programs there are in the area. You should be happy they don't recruit like you say they do.

SQ_Crazies wrote: Yeah, well, you saw what happened. There are a few Big Red huddlers that get me going a little bit because they're just ignorant (fill in the blank). Just ticked me off that I came in here to talk about this game and I get that response from people that ALSO have no ties to this game. Whatever, it is what it is and it's over. I can't wait to see Mooney OR Poland crush Big Red after the abuse I took trying to defend my hometown boys (and you better believe they were crapping their pants in the bleachers at halftime last week whether they want to admit it or not--well, I already know they won't). It's funny how they talked about that game and now they're talking about this one in the complete opposite manner--because they know they can't beat Mooney. Another thing they won't admit but it's true. It's a shame that there is a new wave of Big Red huddlers that have put the older guys into retirement because they don't want to be associated with them.
Nobody was worried going into half time everyone knew that we were our own biggest competition in that first half!
What makes you think we are scared of Mooney or Poland we beat both teams quite handily the last time we've them!
No offense to these two great programs but this guy is obviously a sore loser!

RRR
Go publics
Couldn't help but notice the "go publics" and laugh hysterically.
(Puzzled ) What's so funny about it?
It's funny because it's an easy excuse for you guys, but Steubenville is public in name only.
Lol why, because your team couldn't hold a candle after the refs stopped playing mercy ball and dyc-riding us!
What makes Big Red public " only in name "?

Why do you still want to talk about Salem? We all said going into the game that we couldn't hold a candle to Big Red--they're the type of program that we want to be but the first step in getting there is to play them and see where we are. That was said. By myself and pretty much everyone from Salem. And it's funny that you blame the refs for Salem causing 3 turnovers in the 1st half and capitalizing on them and playing good football. Cite the penalties all you want, but that's part of the game your team got them. No one from Big Red should ever blame officials, they've won games because of officials. And let's be honest, your team rolled through pretty much everyone they played this year and the Salem game wasn't the first time you guys have racked up penalty yards. That's a pathetic excuse. But for real dude, it's done. You moved on, quit talking about it--I don't know why you want to keep talking about Salem. This is about Mooney and Poland, I tried to come on here and talk about the game, why can't you do the same. Time and place big guy.

Who said anything about Mooney recruiting?
It was you who started the recruiting inuendos!
By saying Big Red is public only by name!
Who own Big Red from y-town? check our record's you'll see that we dominate GROWN schools, and then they drop us! If any team in Ohio can say they own us its Benedictine, possibly Massillon and noone else!
Why are you still here you said you would leave this thread!
How can we miss you if you're still here!:D

And the Academy Award for drama of the year goes too...........The Mooney vs. Poland thread. Let's stinking cut this crap and cut to the chase, which is the game Friday night. We are exactly 48 hours from game time and i've barely read anything about the actual game. Let's talk some football instead. For those who have seen Mooney play this year, what do you think Poland should focus on exploiting? I really can't find any weaknesses in Mooney's defense. I sure hope Poland doesn't attempt to establish the running game too much because this game will get ugly fast. However, for Poland to rely on the pass, they will need to give Reardon enough time in the pocket. With Mooney's pash rush and the ability in their defensive backfield, I don't see the passing game working too well either. Therefore, I feel that Poland should come out in the wildcat with Patton in the gun and Wollet at his side :) Highly unlikely though.

I am new here - played at Poland in the early 80's and am thrilled for the opportunity to listen to this game on the radio here in CA. What two great football traditions - I am biased as a fan and alumni of Poland but have nothing but respect and admiration for the football program at Youngstown Cardinal Mooney. I attended a high school football game in East LA a few weeks back. It reminded me of the storied football traditions we have in Ohio where it seems to mean so much more. A fair amount of kids at Mooney live in Poland and all points of Mahoning County really - always have, so the kids know each other on and off the field, just like in life, adults and honorable men set the example for how to act on, off and near the field. If you see anyone acting like an idiot - correct them. Good luck to both teams and compete without injury. I like these web posts in a way, get to talk about Ohio football - but these rooms always seem to degrade to bickering (except the Ford truck mechanical and harley davidson repair rooms).
