This argument is just stupid....no one will ever agree on it. I just don't see how Poland improves by going out and getting pushed around and potentially injured by going up against a team loaded with Division 1 athletes. You know what, I hope Poland schedules Mooney every year in football from here on out. Then we will see what the outcome of the situation is. If losing to Mooney every year makes them a better team and they advance further in the playoffs then i'll put my foot in my mouth and say hey everyone else was right and I was wrong. All those beatings by Mooney really boosted our confidence and got us to the next level. I'm sorry that we do not see eye to eye regarding this matter, but I just don't think losses to perennial powers does anything to better your program. Evidently those losses to Steubenville, Ursuline, and Kettering Alter in years past didn't have the effect that everyone claims "playing the best" does. We can argue all we want, but things won't change. I highly doubt Poland will schedule this game anytime soon so it's silly to have a pissing contest about who should do what. All I know is, that was a very entertaining game last night and Mooney has a darn good team. Once again, nothing but respect for those young men and coaches.....They've really got it all together this year. Best of luck next week against Steubenville!

As 44Cards stated, that's the difference in the 2 programs (and coaches) Mooney's philosophy is we can't beat you if we don't play you" Poland's is "if we play you we'll probably lose"
Just look at that game last night, 10,000 fans, and the money went to the state. I remember a few years ago when Mooney was just coming out of their "dark time" and Poland scheduled Alter a parochial school from Dayton, and got beat. Alter brought zero fans, what the heck was that about? crazy
And what if those 2 '99 teams played, Poland State Champs and Mooney semi-finalists.
You people just don't get it. You're robbing your kids of the opportunity to compete with the best.
