I mean I guess Rocky ended the cold war but his training was so much better in III, he didn't know shit until Apollo showed him how to train. Did you see how bad his footwork was!!!!

IV by far, but I agree III just makes you laugh at how bad he was until Apollo got a hold of him.

IV is by far my favorite Rocky! I like the training scenes in III but I loathed the Clubber Lange character so much I can barely stand to watch that one (plus Mick dies and it's just so sad).

IV was much better. Heart on Fire while running to the top of the mountain was awesome!

Me and a few buddies were just talking about this the other night.

IMO, IV was the best movie...but III was the best training montage, hands down.

IV. although i like "hearts on fire" montage the other training montage in rocky 4 is better imo. the one where drago is working out in the lab and rocky is running through the snow

Although I appreciate the homoerotic running along the beach in III, the climbing the mountain in IV wins.

I guess I am going to be the non conformist here and say that to me, the best Rocky by far was Rocky II. Granted, Rocky did not have the footwork and was not as chiseled, but it was the best in terms of the overall theme of the series. The theme of the movie was how this bum from the streests of Philadelphia shocked the world to defeat the heavyweight champion of the world. The movie and the first showed how the two pugilists differed from each other- Balboa chasing around the chickens in the dusty gym while Creed was the charasmatic champion with the footwork, power, charisma and boxing skills (his character actually embodied Muhammed Ali but was also a mix of a young George Foreman).

Once it got to Rocky III it veered from this path. Rocky IV went completely off the cliff.
