Right now looking at package on Applevacations.com, we used a travel agent (but she booked through applevacations.com) last year so I am calling her tomorrow to see her price. Right now we are looking 9/20 - 9/25/10. Out of Orlando for me and my girl, direct flight all inclusive $2089 total.

Not a bad deal but I bet you can do better. We were looking at some Sandals resort packages but I don't want to be tied down to their activites and couple things. I want to sample the local culture on my own!

Chances are you'll get a better Apple vacations price through priceline or travelocity than through a Travel agent, that price seems a bit inflated. You might wanna look into Puerto Vallarta as well - usually even better prices, I like it there a lot better, and the dates you mention are at the height of hurricane season so a west location is a lot less likely to have bad weather or storms during that time.

Cool. Sometimes if you can get an x amount of people up front you can get a nice discount. I have had ok luck with travel agents in the past but sometimes they are a bit pushy but if they are your friend they can swing some nice deals. I look for travel to places like Cancun, Cozumel, Bahamas etc to be alot cheaper this year than past years.

We did that last year with Puerta Vallarta, 6 of us, we are using the same travel agent. They talked to her today and got the info from her and compared. Everything is looking about 2000 minimum right now, mexico, costa rica, jamaica, etc...

We did Puerta Vallarta last year and loved it. Trust me I know all about hurricanes, live in FL, work for State Farm. Last year a major hurricane swept the west coast of mexico the week before we went (last week of sept) we were sweating that but PV was spared!!

This is bound to end badly....Random huddler goes with Fab to Cancun. Random huddler steals Fab's girl. Random huddler and Fab get into a fight. Random huddler flies home with Fab's girl while Fab is calling his embassy to get him out of a Mexican jail.

Sounds amazing but that is only a few weeks before my wedding and we are planning a pretty big two-week honeymoon trip for October, so need to save the cash!

Everyone who is going have a wonderful time!

Sounds awesome! I was down their last year at an All Inclusive.

Question for you, why did you choose to use a travel agent? I went to a travel agent for suggestions and then she had everything lined up and the final price. Then I get online and try booking it myself and saved quite a bit of money.

Do travel agents really get discounts? I swear that when I was talking to her she was just searching travel search engines, and I wondered why I was even talking to her when I could be doing the same thing.

I'll talk to the wife. we're trying to put a vacation together for this year, right now we're thinking south padre or destin, but I might be able to schmooze her into Cancun. kids allowed? might have to pay for a grandparent to fly into LA to babysit. shouldn't be a problem.

I'd urge you to consider Costa Rica.

I spent several weeks there the summer of my sophomore year of high school and have been dying to go back ever since; it's probably the most beautiful and fun vacation I've ever been on, and I've spent weeks in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Spain.

A few highlights of the trip: white water rafting, a relaxing evening at a natural hot springs, zip-lining through the rainforest, swimming beneath a 50-foot waterfall, touring a coffee farm, and climbing the side of an active volcano...
