Okay, this just may be my own personal thing...but....I was a big Subway fan for years. Always thought, "Yeah, this is way healthier than Burger King," however, I have always wondered...how do you leave all that meat and cheese set out all day while you stack those sandwiches with your plastic gloves...I bet you don't change those gloves all day...I bet you may even keep them on when you go to the 'loo....Finally, I got one rip-roaring case of "food poisoning" after a special "BMT" with extra sauce...................hey Jared, "Think Fresh".
I'll take my chances with a well-grilled synthetic patty from McD's.

Just give me a "Nice Story, Bro" and it will be all worthwhile.

I worked at a Subway ages ago. Dunno about the one you went to, but we were required to change gloves every 5 sandwiches, or after any sauce got on them, or if a customer asked. As long as the cooler under the meat and veggies is working properly, there shouldn't be an issue with salmonella (how would they ever pass a health inspection if this wasn't the case?).

I just don't eat there because their subs are disgusting.

My brother offered to bring me home a sub once. He asked me if I wanted it toasted, and of course I did. In the 5 minute drive across town my "toasted" sub was as limp as (insert dick joke here) by the time I got it. I could have tied that fucker in a pretzel shape. It was so gross.

do they really change them every 5 sammiches?........how long is the meat and cheese sitting on the cooler?....
again, I admit, this may be my own personal paranoia.

Depends on the turn around time, but after working in a sandwich shop for years, I'm guessing from the time it's put in to it being gone, 90 minutes to 4 hours depending on how busy or slow things are.

Maybe some change every 5 sandwiches but I've been in some shady looking Subways that i'll walk right out of cause their employees look totally disgusting. I don't eat there often but it's not bad.

I, the mild-mannered one (seriously), once yelled at someone who decided to take the minute between me saying "Let me check the menu" and "Okay, I'm ready to order" to text away on his phone while wearing gloves. He then was about to start on my sandwich with those same gloves.

In my defense, I only yelled after he became a bitch. Simple lesson is this: the purpose of the gloves is to protect the food from the person wearing them and from anything that person has touched. The purpose is NOT to protect you from everything else.

Why the heck would you go to subway for a pizza?

Im not a person who cares to much about germs or anything but for some reason I always ask the person to change their gloves.

I don't think I'll be going to one for a while, had a couple of people I know on campus get food poisoning from the one in town.

Only problem is that when the baseball team has to eat because the cafeteria is closed we go there because of the $5 footlong deal. Damn.

I must tell you that generally, I don't agree with believer's political opinions, but in this case, I don't think the issue was political. I believe he was making a point about the use of the F-Bomb to emphasize the correctness of a viewpoint. In this case, I would definitely agree with him, and yes, I occasionally let an expletive or two slip out, but the use of the F-Bomb to emphasize a point, just doesn't seem necessary or helpful, or in believer's opinion, very classy.

It's a word, if you don't like it then don't get on freehuddle. I don't get why people freak out when they know you can cuss on this site.

Subway is probably the "safest" fast food restaurant.

The nastiest might have to be Arby's. I've heard from a friend who worked there that the meat comes from a liquid bag and doesn't take its solid form until its been cooked on a grill. Gross.

I didn't say he couldn't use the F-Bomb, after all, that's what the "freehuddle" is about. My opinion, which was also offered up on the "freehuddle", happens to disagree with the use of the F-Bomb. That's all. Sometimes, simple solutions like.... if you don't like the word then stay off the "freehuddle"......tends to come in conflict with the U.S. Constitution, as well as making the "freehuddle" not very free.

Getting back to Subway -

Subway seems to do all right per the Columbus Health Department - and from what Son Of Cat Food tells me, the inspectors are VERY fussy. Most of you squeamish pansies would have your home kitchens shut down immediately. :)

The really good Subways will re-cover all the food at every lull. We did this at the one I worked at years ago, and the best ones around do this, too.
