Serious question- what’s the media/left’s obsession with making sure everyone knows this guy is a domestic terrorist? Someone on the news called him a lone wolf and they’re losing their minds. Why are they so obsessed with labeling this guy a terrorist?
Because we want to label everyone in some fashion or another. To label someone is a way of coping.
I believe the thought of line wolf terrorism terrifies so many people that just any ole so called normal person can be this fucked up.

We want to believe we can catch these before they happen such as a friend of a friend reporting a guy as becoming radicalized to Islam. If that connection can be made then people can have a common enemy.

People don't want to believe that this can be some normal dude down the street who drinks too much and likes a shitty football team.

We try to make sense of everything and a label in some sense, for many, tries to provide an answer.

We can all band against a terrorist. But some ole 65 yr old "normal" white guy scares the fuck outta people.

I know when I've been to concerts since all this craziness of a few years ago, or even a movie theatre or crowded event I take a look around and look form all exits and possible ways to respond to an incident like this. Most times there really isn't anything one can do. Get behind some cover and pray and if your near the gunman, tackle the fucker and stsrt pounding his face in the ground. Thing is...when there is a lot ofmgunfire and craziness ya don't know where it's coming from.

Dumbfucks like this ruin great events and life itself. Evil has always been around us. there will always be evil people with absolutely no appreciation for human life.

Nevada has some of the most-relaxed gun laws in the country, a legislative condition that is sure to come under renewed scrutiny n the wake of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
Nevada law does not require firearms owners to have licenses, register their weapons, or limits the number of firearms an individual posses. Automatic assault weapons and machine guns are also legal in the state as long as they are registered and are possessed in adherence to federal law, according to the National Rifle Association.
Nevada does not prohibit the transfer or possession of assault weapons, 50 caliber rifles or large capacity ammunition magazines. Local law enforcement issues concealed handgun licenses. Open carry is legal without a permit

Lombardo said law enforcement authorities had located a “person of interest” who he named as Marilou Danley, believed to be the suspect's roommate. She was later cleared of involvement, authorities said.
I'm kind of interested in this. This guy had been checked into the room since 9/28 and had a shitload of weapons in there. She was a roommate but didn't have any involvement?

I don't get this either. It's like everything that ends up in some sort of "mass violence" has to be labeled as "terrorism." And, it has to be labeled that immediately.

And people will mention how Chicago has some of the strongest gun laws and yet more people die there than Americans serving overseas in current conflicts.

Sadly, my 3 boys were in classes during a school shooting. And let me tell you, it is scary shit as a parent. Fortunately, no one was killed and only one injured before the threat was detained - and it happened in the HS wing of the building (my boys are all in elementary), but it was still the scariest moment of my life speeding to that school and not knowing what was going on or if they were okay.

You suck. Quit acting like Trump. What isadore says has merit. Just because the majority of people around here are gun fanatics, you decide to keep it a one-sided conversation.

Bad Justin.

Technically fully autos are legal with level 3 super restrictive rules. I don't think police have actually said he had full autos yet, but it sure sounded like it. I know you can modify semi auto's too but you need to have some milling skills.
And thank you for removing that moron.

His problem is that he keeps repeating the same thing, over and over again. It's a pattern with him, so he gets no benefit of the doubt. Sorry.

Please delete this thread, since it's only allowed to be one sided. Let one of the gun fanatics start another thread.

fucking idiots

Congrats on comparing apples to oranges.
Yes, because a thread being one-sided in sharing shock, sadness and personal stories without going full politard is a terrible thing and just cause for shutting a thread down.

Yep. Feel free to start a thread in the politics forum if you want to discuss the merits of gun control. The tantrums are also a really bad look, you're not gonna win many people over to your side acting like a child.

This isn't the politics forum. Deal with it. This thread should be about discussing the facts of the incident as they come in.

Suppose we should have two threads. One for everyone to share there shock and sadness, another in the politics thread to discussion how and why it happened.

I'm not a gun fanatic - don't own one, never shot one, don't plan to. But I don't think new or even the existing gun control laws are going to help. Crazy people are going to do what crazy people do. It sucks we'll probably never know this guy's issues before he pulled the trigger. I wonder if improving mental healthcare is more promising than trying to control guns.
