I am a conservative myself, which is why I don't have any problem with the players taking a knee during the Anthem, it's their right. If people disagree with them taking a knee that's fine, it's a free country, but saying they should be forced to stand completely goes against what conservatives should think IMO.
I actually think that it would be a classical liberal way of thinking to think that forcing people to stand is wrong.
I'm fine with people going "off" the hard line of their ideology. We absolutely should be able to pick and choose which side of the fence we stand on when it comes to particular things. Being a hardliner/zealout to one way of thinking is never a good thing. Branch off. Pick and choose.

You can dance around the semantics all you'd like...no skin off my nose. At the end of the day, it's league policy, and not disputable.
They can penalize IF they want to -- a good example is for the Buffalo Bills running back who did nothing respectful and essentially mocked the protest.

Recommendations are completely different than mandates. It says "should." What happens if you can't? That means you're still breaking policy. Policy also does allow for certain people groups to respond how they feel with the national anthem (i.e., those that do not believe in celebrating/praising something other than their "god").

Difference in policy (example):
-- You should get your flu shot before winter comes.
-- You shall get your flu shot before winter comes.

One is a recommendation. The other is a mandate. You are recommended to get a flu shot VERSUS you must get a flu shot. The ambiguity gives Gooddell the power and authority he likes so much.

Then why mention penalties at all? Just say "we'd like you to please stand at attention for the anthem, but it's cool if you don't," and be done with it.

"NEW YORK (AP) — Through three weeks, viewership for national telecasts of NFL games is down 11 percent this season compared to 2016, the Nielsen company said on Tuesday."

And that is after falling 8 % last year.

Hope this helps.

Incredibly shallow, and incredibly scary. The SS could be walking down your street pulling innocent people out of their homes and you wouldn't care because it didn't affect you that minute. Mind numbing. Are you really that stupid, or just faking it.

Maybe I should have put it in bold for you:

"<st1:stockticker>NEW</st1:stockticker><st1:stockticker>YORK</st1:stockticker> (AP) — Through three weeks, viewership for national telecasts of NFL games is down 11 percent this season compared to 2016, the Nielsen company said on Tuesday."

And that is after declining 8% last year.

http://fortune.com/2017/09/20/nfl-monday-night-football-tv-ratings-decline/

CBS's Sunday games, for instance, were down about 10 percent from last year. The Hollywood Reporter reported that ratings were down 15 percent in Week 2, even after ratings were down 8 percent last year.

Yes QQ... athletes kneeling and hurting your feelz is the same thing as people being pulled from their homes.

What???

No, if you are turning your back because of this, but not the other issues the NFL players have done, you're a POS human.

The flag represents the constitution which is the WALL between government tyranny (your "Hile" group) and THE PEOPLE.

You're upset people are kneeling in protest. There's nothing but feelings involved.

The penalty comment in the policy talks about being on the field. It has nothing to do with standing, sitting or kneeling.

Which is why it was stated that the 3 teams (Pitt, Tennessee, and Seattle) could be subject to a penalty. Then the league announced that those teams would not be penalized for not being on the field for the anthem.

QuakerOats;1873531 wrote:Yes, they would. And the reason remains, they are aiming their protest at the flag which represents our country and constitution. That should not be the target, at all. They should be standing and cheering for the flag because it represents the freedoms that allow them to assemble and protest and work for the change they wish to see. They are literally protesting against the very mechanism which affords them their right to make change. It is astonishing how short-sighted and, simply, stupid they are by proceeding in the manner they have chosen.
They aren't protesting the flag, you dummy.

You poor misguided Trumpsucker. The flag represents the idolatry of the wars this nation has been involved in for 224 of it's 241 years.

The Constitution insures that if you don''t want to stand for the flag, the gubmint can't force you to.

And since you addressed me as Christ, kneel before me and respect me. For I am the light. My Father has given you commandments in the Book of Fiction. It commands no other gods before him. (and you probably should not participate in activities where people work on the Sabbath)

I guess you think so because you have a rather substantial inability to understand. I get that.

Good luck.

I'm not blindly partisan and unable to think outside a narrow-minded box of my own making. So, luck is more something you need to get through, not me.
