Looks like more changes made..midseason of course...to the chase before it starts.

"We want to make sure (the Chase) is giving us the biggest impact moments it was designed to do," France said Friday. "Everything, to us, means pushing the winning envelope to mean what it needs to mean in our sport. We're happy with the Chase, (but) if we can enhance it in a pretty significant way, we may do that." The Chase was one of several topics France covered Friday at Daytona International Speedway during a question-and-answer session. Also under consideration are changes to the second-tier Nationwide Series that could affect the participation of Cup drivers, and scheduling requests made by track operators International Speedway Corp. and Speedway Motorsports Inc. for the 2011 season. But it was the Chase that received the most attention as France admitted NASCAR is continuously trying to improve its championship system. France would not talk specifics, but in general terms, his ideas sounded as if NASCAR is considering both eliminations and tweaking the system to ensure that several drivers are in title contention during the season finale. In the past several years, Johnson has had to only preserve a decent finish to wrap up the title with little to no competition. Although unlikely, it's possible, France indicated, that NASCAR won't do anything at all to the Chase. Junior puts the number 3 back in victory lane. That was awesome to see one last time.

Good win for JR no doubt.....I would like to see him go to Childress and run the #3 every week. Could you imagine the hipe if he drove the Goodwrench #3 in a cup race driving for Childress

Also, he has enough hype around him simply because of who he is and who his dad was. The last thing he needs is the added hype of all of the crap around the #3 car too, all to drive it home in 25th place.

EDIT: He also reiterated in his post-race interview that that was it for him and the 3 car.

Yeah, he even said in the post race interview..he put the 3 back in victory lane, that's what he wanted to do, he said he's done with 3's, there won't be anymore for him.

3 was a magic number tonite. I got chills on the first lap, then a few laps later my friend rolls up in his wheelchair and said the exact same words to me. The Spirit in the sky was riding at Daytona. I got some good pics early, but I couldn't focus worth a damn after I left pit road the first time.

I hit the infield for Rolex practice, then the Cup garage, wandered around the infield, took the shuttle back to my truck to rest, drink, & eat. Back to the garage, fanzone, Nationwide garage as they were starting to qualify. Back to my truck to lay down, drink more water, blah blah.. I walked 7 miles yesterday according to my phone. 12,900 steps(+/-) It always seems accurate.

Got to shake Tommy Baldwin's hand and thank him for the modified paint scheme. The nerf bars, exhaust, air cleaner on the hood are awesome. When I worked at New Smyrna Speedway we had some pretty big Richie Evans Memorial races during Speedweeks, and had Richie's car on display.
I asked Buzzy Reutimann why they never had a deal with Zephyrhills Spring Water, and he said they are owned by Nestle, and they are in Germany, and they just don't relate to Nascar. Buzzy used to sell parts at New Smyrna pits when he first moved to Florida. He is a legend up north in the mods.
I talked to Tony Stewart's dad a little while. I'm going to give them a hat today that I've had and never worn. Its from 1999 Eldora Historical Big One. Earl Baltes and winner Kevin Gobrecht signed it. Kevin died in a crash a couple months later. That race was unforgettable because the checkered fell at 6am after rain delays.
