Here's a summary:

Fact: Ohio State beat 5 teams with 10+ wins.
Question: Has any other team done that?
Fact: LSU won 5 games against 10+ win teams.
Opinion: Wins over I-AA teams shouldn't count.
Opinion: Navy's schedule isn't great and included a win over an I-AA team to get to 10.
Point: Either you want the fact as to who has beaten five 10+ win teams or you want to nitpick as to which 10+ win teams shouldn't count as 10+ win teams.

Now tell me, where does Boise State fit in there?
PAY ATTENTION

Navy's schedule was called "isn't great". Boise State's schedule "fits in" as a juxtaposition, to show Navy's schedule as something better than "isn't great". "Nit picking" is questioning why Boise State's schedule would be held up as a comparison. You want to see the other 50 or so lesser schedules than Navy's?

Um, no, because there aren't fifty other or so teams who were beaten by this year's Ohio State team or 2003 LSU who had ten wins, which is what we were talking about.

Is this what you want? Navy played a better schedule than Boise State. I agree. Still doesn't make Navy's schedule "great". Don't care. Isn't relevant to this thread. But there you go.

I hate Ohio State (UM fan) but I will say this, barring that loss to Purdue, OSU finishes in the top 3. The loss to Purdue was really the way Prior played and he is still ONLY a sophomore.

Also, if Tressel starts to open his conservative play calling like he did late in the season, the Buckeyes will be in the hunt for a title next year.

Both feats by LSU and OSU are impressive... You definitely can't take anything away from LSU for two of those wins coming against Georgia and saying that they "only beat four teams"...if anything it is tougher to beat a good team twice. As for one of those wins coming against a D1-AA opponent, I have to second what a previous poster said about Navy beating a D1-AA opponent to get to ten wins, at what point do we draw the line?

P.S. Nobody cares whose schedule sucked more between Boise and Navy, Big Gain.

so if we're saying all titles up until the BCS are mythical, then last night should have technically been Alabama's 1st National Championship, not their 13th

Technically, it is still mythical. Look up Division I championships on any official NCAA site and it is all about the FCS.

Mostly.

Though, technically teams have been winning national championships since 1978, they just compete in the Football Championship Subdivision and not the Football Bowl Subdivision. The FCS IS the Division I champion according to the NCAA. The polls always have and still do exist outside of the NCAA's official sanction.

I disagree with this ... every team enters the season knowing full well the system that determines a champion. To belittle the accomplishments of the BCS champion (you didn't do that Darby, but others have) based on a playoffs pipe dream really renders the entire college football season meaningless (I personally think that college football, because of the lack of a playoff, has the BEST regular season ... example: would the Buckeyes pull a "Indianpolis Colts" and rest Pryor against Michigan knowing they had a playoff game one week later?)

I like the regular season, but I have a problem wth a system where teams can win every game that is played and still not have a chance to play for a championship. If you went to the playoff model that has the 11 conference champs and 5 at-large bids, the regular season games would still be big.

I'm going with the NCAA's stance that they recognize the winner of their playoff as National Champion.

Not only did they lose a game in 1970...they lost the last game of the year in the bowl game vs. Stanford. How can you win a title losing in your bowl game?
