Really? He's a lot better than David Stern IMO.

Silver is the best commissioner in sports right now, imo.

This is true.

I think Manfred is doing/going to do very good things with MLB, though.

The bar wasn't set high from his predecessor lol. I agree though.

Meh. He was practically given a layup with the sterling thing in LA right after he took over. That satisfied the pc crowd. Other than that, it's not like he's done much.

The NBA continues to be a league where the regular season means very little, he's not doing much to help that.

Don't know how much he can do about that, simply because any league where 16 of 30 or so teams makes the playoffs is going to have a generally meaningless regular season. We can talk about reducing the number of teams in the playoffs or shortening the regular season, but those options cut into revenue, so no one is going to be in favor of that.

I love that MLB is adapting streaming. We need to fix the marketing of the game, and there is no reason why TBS should be showing games like TNT does NBA, midweek. Expose stars from other markets.

While the replay system seems to be wrong a decent amount lol, they have the best system in place. It's quick, managers get a challenge, and HR/non HR is automatically reviewed. Only thing I think should be tweaked is the "overslide". If you legit go to far like J-Ram yesterday at 3rd, out. But Lindor, went hand to foot like you're taught and had both off for 1 pixel of TV. That isn't an overslide and should be ruled safe.

Other than that, I like what MLB is really doing.

Well, they are in talks of shaking up the playoffs which is a start.

The league is booking though. Started with Stern, but he has done a great job of marketing. Yes we have superteams, but we have stars all over the sport, and we have big time ratings for national games 4/7 days a week. The league as a whole is really in a good spot.

I saw over the weekend the Women's final four games were drawing higher ratings than the NBA games lol

Agree that the NBA is great, but they definitely have some problems and Silver has some work to do to fix them.

I think they should reduce the schedule to 62 games. Eliminate these garbage back to backs. The fact the cavs are finishing their season with 5 back to backs in 5 weeks to end the season is a joke.

Saw an idea where they'll seed 1-8 based on records like they normally do, but home court advantage goes to the team with the best H2H record in the regular season.

This. I read today that none of the top 50 athletes marketing-wise are MLB players and I'd have to think part of that is simply because 90% of the national TV viewing involves the same handful of teams. You'll get almost every single Boston-Yankee match-up, but if you're a fan of a smaller market team and that team isn't on pace for 90+ wins, they might as well not even exist.

Yeah the only thing that would help are the tv people. Because the cavs would bench their guys vs teams like the magic when it's not on national tv lol. But then Boston/Cleveland is going to get all the players playing.

20 games is too many. But I like the talks of lessening preseason and starting season earlier. Basically would give 7 more days to play with without games. If they go to 76 (1 a month gone), plus the season starting 7 days earlier, your looking at 2 full weeks more of rest.

I was just thinking back to the lockout season (don't really remember the amount of games) and recall that being fine. I could go your plan, but reduce it to 72.

I wouldn't QQ if they end up with the #2 seed and avoid Miami (who's looked red hot at times this season)/Indiana and instead get #7 Chicago/Atlanta. The Hawks are 2-8 in their last ten.

That was also with Wade playing. They were 1-3 against Detroit in the regular season last year. Didn't stop them from sweeping them when it mattered in the first round.

Wade is returning this Saturday.

Give me the team without a star that can take over a game in the first round.

Indiana has one and Chicago has two. I'll pass on Chicago. There is nobody on Miami's roster that scare me.

Also these refs are the trash in this game.

Is Lue married? If so, did derrick Williams fuck his wife?
