I would have to say Bobcats and Smithies are going to come out as the favorites, we have a few holes to fill here in D-town but we have some promising youngsters. It's going to depend on if the are ready for the bright lights of Friday night. Also think the Huskies might make some noise.
Well list them in order once the fall preview comes out. Good luck oldsmithie, this could be your year.

Norwayne, Northwestern and Hillsdale look to return the most. We'll see if Smithville can build off a VERY good JV team.

Waynedale lost the most and Chippewa will start the post Breitenstein era.

I would say top half would be
Norwayne
Smithville
Northwestern
Hillsdale

And bottom half
Chippewa
Waynedale
Dalton
Rittman

Thanks Alum! I have my fingers crossed that the JV success will carry over to Varsity this season. I am also having trouble locating the upcoming schedule for the WCAL teams. I checked the OHSAA site but it refers you to another site and the complete season is not listed. Looks like Smithville will open at home against Tuslaw .

It is my understanding OHSAA is moving over to arbiterlive.com. But my looking at schedules typically only shows home but have not looked at any WCAL schools.

Thou the only away game shown for Tuslaw is at Smithville opening night (8/26).

Bears graduated alot of starters Only return 2-3 starters on each side..."I think". Any word? I've not been around much this summer.

Might start a thread on Yappi. This site has jumped the shark.

Waynedale had a tough time at Fridays scrimmage. The scrimmage was not as close as the 28-14 score indicated. Unfortunately it looks like it will be a long year for Waynedale Golden Bears.

I hear Dalton looked solid against triway. They have a lot of juniors that played last year. Not real deep so they need to stay healthy

El Choppo, What are you basing your thoughts and predictions on? Chippewa lost a ton of talent to graduation. I think the Chipps will struggle to be in the top half of the league. Norwayne returns some talent as does Smithville and Northwestern. Rittman has a long way to go before they make it to the top half of the league.

El Choppo knows WCAL football. It all comes down to the coaching and the it factor.. Chippewa has both. The smithies need to feel good so they schedule the elms and any other scrub non league. When league play rolls around, they will struggle.
Someone saying Dalton looked good? Thanks, I needed a laugh this morning.

Agree with you El Choppo, comes down to coaching so the Chipps will be making a run at the title. But think the Smithies will be right there too. I say one or the other is going to knock off the bobcats and make for a very good league race this year. We get a good look tonight and see how some of the young kids developed this summer. Predict the Chipps roll big tonight.

I said they looked solid in a scrimmage. But enjoy fanning the flames.

I would strongly venture to say that El Choppo is "stirring the pot". He isn't even a Chippewa fan. People in Doylestown know and understand they have some experience back as well as a lot of youth. They respect everyone, they understand the league race is wide open with Cats as the favorite, and they will be rooting like crazy for all WCAL teams in their non league portions of their schedules. Please lets not start the year casting stones at one another already.
