I don't know that social conservatives ever have. That's what made your statement unclear me.

Conservatives aren't any more perfect than non-conservatives. They simply seek to not endorse or support that which they continue to work towards themselves. It's not a position of being morally "better" or claiming superior integrity but rather one of not enabling that which isn't ideal and that they hope to come closer to achieving. It may not even possible but it's always being sought out.

This wasn't a heat-of-the-moment circumstance in which he said something he shouldn't have. Moreover, while we've probably all said stupid things, we were probably not the sort of people who should have been president when we said those things.

The comments in question indicate a misogyny that many have already been suggesting is there. However, the only people who will care about it are the fence-sitters. Those who are voting for Trump, come hell or high water, are going to spin it as locker room talk or will deflect to Clinton's husband ... a man who is not running for president and who was indicted when he did hold office.

Needless to say, it's a problem to have a president who doesn't actually believe that all citizens are equal, whether or not he'd ever openly admit to such.

the sad-but-true part is that this was absolutely predicted....basically it was all designed to fail so badly that you had no alternative.

The point of Obamacare was to guarantee coverage to people with pre-existing conditions within a system of private health insurance. E.G. My father in law who had cancer and ended up having to quit working could get individual coverage through the exchange whereas before he would have been denied by everyone. That has been achieved. However insuring and taking care of sick people has raised costs for the rest of us.

People know there is a moral difference between a 3 month old post-natal human being and an embrionic human being. Like porno, even if yiu can't define it, you know it. The Supreme Court's test for viability is a reasonable approximation of that intuition and it is time to move on.

My 4 month old is morally different than when she was an embryo. It is just the way it is and if my wife had had an abortion she shouldn't get charged with aggravated murder and get life in prison or the death penalty, etc. like she should if she were to kill our child now.

The legal framework since roe v. wade has worked fine for figuring out when to grant legal protection to prenatal human beings and largely gels with the intution of non-zealots.

It is pathetic imho that this is what caused the mass exodus from Trump....the white nationalism, ignorance on Nukes, NATO, etc. All of that was ok!

I don't think it raised the cost for the rest of us; its just the cost is now reflected in your insurance quote instead of your marked up hospital bill.

Well arguably at least, hospitals have no incentive to give a fair market price for their services. This is one of the reasons I think we need government to run healthcare; too many market failures to build an effective system.
