Don't be concerned with same sex marriage, religion in public schools, government decisions based on religion, etc.


A great first step for the party would to just say fuck off to everything related to religion.

I even agree with this. The United States is a Constitutional Republic with democratic nuances. That "Constitutional" part contains, in the First Amendment, a freedom of religion that Jefferson explained as requiring a chasm between the state's reach and the church's reach.

If the two just left each other the hell alone, things would be far smoother. Fewer people would get pissed at religious institutions, and there would be less fear of government "taking our religious rights" or "being overrun by Sharia Law."

You nailed it and you don't even realize it. I'm not worried or concerned about it. The GOP should follow suit. Let them focus on the more important issues.

The GOP has a candidate only focused on the economy and putting America first. Where's all the bullshit social issues you say he's focused on? Other than pointing out the race relations at this problem are ignored by the party in power Trump has done a great job of focusing on things that matter.

Why not just make marriages a church thing only and civil unions a government thing? In other words civil unions are done your marriage license and marriages happen in the church. Marriage just symbolic and carry no tax incentives and the civil union is a certificate you pick up at the court house of license bureau whatever. Win freaking win

I don't even get why you want him to win. It is like rooting for tOSH to go to the national championship with a complete buffoon as a coach knowing they will lower the standing of the Big Ten and get crushed by Bama all because you hate Michigan - who maybe cheats in recruiting and is corrupt but at least is not a complete disaster.

Because gays want the equal protection of the law and Christians made marriage licenses a thing to exclude people from marriage. For ducks sake this issue is over and the world is the exact same for all the married Christians. Stahp!

But be my guest to lead the charge to privatize marriage contracts...then polygamist divorces can bog down the common pleas courts instead.

The Family Research Council wants socialist marriage for men and women with the gays excluded. Good luck with your movement.

He is the most socialist/protectionist/anti-traditional-conservatism candidate on trade, free movement of capital and free movement of labor since the Era of Good Feelings but he is somehow favored by the party that was for free markets and trade liberalization. Amazing.

I wouldn't count Trump out yet just because Hillary is so weak...and that is saying something...really amazing 45 million people will vote for him even when so many know he is not up to the job.

I think Paul Ryan would beat Hillary in 2020. If I am the GOP I go with him and stop with all those other pretenders.

But oh wait he is for free trade, immigration reform and amnesty...everything Trump vehemently ran against when could actually string sentences together.

If the GOP became the purely pro-business party while the dems move away from being the "pro-worker party" and toward the "social justice warrior identity politics party" the GOP will dominate.

Now the GOP has the worst of both worlds because evangelicals are hilariously carrying trump and trump has brought worker protectionism in to displace pro-business policy.

It would be ideal to just NGAF who promises to only touch whose peen, but I think we're too far down the road for what you suggest to be a reality. Any two (or eighteen) people could have the contract legally. Any restrictions could be privately held.

Exactly the same for me. I was actually still leaning toward Gary Johnson until just recently but have come to conclusion that Trump just can't become President and even though I'll throw up in my mouth a bit when I pull the lever for Hillary, knowing that it's cancelling out some Trump supporters vote is enough to help me get over it.

I still don't think Trump has a legitimate shot but I am surprised by the number of Trump signs in my area. I realize I live in a rural area but the people around me don't usually put up political signs that I notice and there are a shit ton of signs. I think 75% of the houses here have Trump signs.
