Because an 8-team playoff would mean 6 bowl games, and if you keep the same New Year's 6 format, it wouldn't work. If you rotated the games and played the quarterfinals the week before New Year's, that means there would be Rose Bowl's played not on New Year's Day. I suppose it would work, but I'm guessing the bowl games would rather still get to have their normal events separate from the playoff.

Plus, using the quarterfinals and the other four New Year's 6 bowls, would reduce the bowl eligible teams and bowls available. If anything, the sport is going the other way.

I was responding to your suggestion of playing the quarterfinals on campus. Play them around Dec. 15th, and keep everything else like it is now.

This. You may have to lose a regular season game though but its totally worth it.

If only the best team in CFB was actually in the Championship game...oh well I guess whatever idiots set this up in the first place don't want to see the best product on the field.

Alabama can't defend the spread.

Watson is really good.

Alabama defense is consistently overrated due to the fact that there are 0 good QB's in the SEC year after year. Is Manziel the best QB in/from that conference in the last 10 years, or did someone slip my memory?

I'd also take Tebow any day over Manziel. But yeah Cam was pretty good too.

Matt Stafford is slightly better than Manziel, also. Jay Cutler was 10 years ago.

Lol forgot Cutler went to Vandy. Pretty crazy to think he legit got into there. Stafford is another good one.

I think AJ McCarron has as many wins as a starter as jff.

I knew someone slipped my mind. Was counting College numbers/Success which is why I left out Stafford/Cutler.

There was a missed targeting call on the 3rd down play when Ridley ran backwards. 13 from Bama should have been flagged.

10 years after the Vince Young Rose Bowl, Watson is doing his best to repeat it.

Clementine has got to cover that TE releasing he's killing them on moving the chains.
