Because an 8-team playoff would mean 6 bowl games, and if you keep the same New Year's 6 format, it wouldn't work. If you rotated the games and played the quarterfinals the week before New Year's, that means there would be Rose Bowl's played not on New Year's Day. I was responding to your suggestion of playing the quarterfinals on campus. Alabama defense is consistently overrated due to the fact that there are 0 good QB's in the SEC year after year. Is Manziel the best QB in/from that conference in the last 10 years, or did someone slip my memory?

Matt Stafford is slightly better than Manziel, also. Jay Cutler was 10 years ago.
