Worst possible matchup as far as TV is concerned. Nobody with a college education from a school that didn't have sorority girls in pearls will watch this shit. Couple of southern fried, NASCAR Cap, Yoohoo drinkin, BBQ eatin, moonshine makin, pointy hood wearin, drag racin, hill jacks teeing it up against each other and nobody outside of the Confederate Flag states will GAF.

The price of these tickets proves why 8 teams will never ever happen. It's simply too expensive for fans to go cross country to bowl games in back to back weeks. Let's be honest only a handful of people in the first place are willing to drop thousands to see their team play, but at least with the Semifinal you have enough lead time for a cheaper flight.

Pretty pricey to blow another few grand on a last minute airline ticket and more hotel rooms to see your team once more play

The quarterfinal games should be on campus venues. You can heavily sponsor the event, but unless they completely separate the college football playoff from the bowl game affiliations, it wouldn't work anyway.

I've been saying this for awhile. The atmosphere at a college campus would be amazing for a playoff game.

This is so fucking stupid. Maybe in your small town Toledo town there aren't a lot of big spenders, but there are osu fans all over the world who would be willing to spend any amount of money to travel to 20 games in a row. Let alone 2.

An extra game isn't going to effect this.

Sleeper graduated from OSU as did I with honors. But did S&L and like_that actually attend the Old Gray Lady on the Olentangy? I doubt it, something tells me they are like thousands of Ohio MAC school attendees that "root" for OSU but never could have cut it on the Big Stage.

KKKlemson vs Bama Cotton Pickers tonight. Massa Saban will be whippin' his boys into a frothy sweat while Dabo will keep a lower profile almost as if he's wearin' a robe and pointy hood to conceal his identity. Like_that has gone on record he's a Cotton Picker tonight, which means I'm pullin for the Klansmen...er, Tigers. The game will have the lowest ratings in the history of Championship football because most southerners can't afford cable. Other than die hard CFB fans nobody north of the Mason-Dixon will want to watch two fat Bubba's in bib-overalls rassle in the mud out behind the Outhouse (at least they hope its mud).

If the semifinals were kept as part of new year's day bowls, why couldn't quarterfinal losers still go to bowl games? For example, the Iowa/MSU game was basically a quarterfinal game this year, and the loser went to a bowl game.
