Browns sign a free agent, yay. Demario Davis from Jets. I know nothing about him other than he didn't miss a game in the last 4 years.

Not bad stats. He's averaged over 100 tackles a year, over the past 3 years (threw out his rookie season of 36), in a pretty decent Jets defense. Might be a good get but some of these pickups reek of Mangini-likeness.iclfan2;1787106 wrote:Browns sign a free agent, yay. Demario Davis from Jets. Yea after reading Twitter, apparently he isn't very good. Bad grades on pff and jet fans didn't seem to upset with it. He also was the guy who sent mccown flying like a helicopter.

I don't have pff, but saw a tweet saying he was ranked 60 something out of 90 linebackers

Nope, not a surprise to me. I expect guys like Whitner & Kruger (possibly via trade) to be next. Still wondering why that worthless POS Justin Gilbert is still on the roster. He should've been sent packing handcuffed to Manziel.Crimson streak;1787197 wrote:Dansby will be released. Not really a surprise
Does anyone else get the feeling the Browns could move on from Josh Gordon once he gets reinstated?

Why not bring the very talented young corner to camp and see what he has first? Makes more sense to me than cutting him for pretty much no reason. His salary is already guaranteed, pretty much only a lose lose to cut him now. Now he comes to camp and continues to suck ass? Sure cut him. To cut him now is a very Cris Carter calling for Browns to cut Gordon (for no reason) hot taek move.BR1986FB;1787202 wrote:Nope, not a surprise to me. You lost me at "very talented young corner." (which he's not) He's almost as bad of a headcase as Manziel. If Farmer & Pettine would've actually done their due diligence on him, they would've never touched him with a 10 foot pole (horrible work ethic, late for/missed meetings, 'not my fault" attitude, etc). People can blame the previous coaching staff for poor performance, in some cases, but Gilbert just sucks.Commander of Awesome;1787216 wrote:Why not bring the very talented young corner to camp and see what he has first? I also think it's fairly safe to safe the last coaching staff was a bunch of fucking idiots. O'Niel was about as bad as it gets, there are many stories that came out basically saying his rotations, and practice time made little to no sense and didn't correlate to playing time. Which is absurd. Gilbert may be a diva bitch boy (signs point to yes) but his athletic traits are undeniable. The fact that Gilbert wasn't at least returning punts and Bademosi was playing over him is fucking stupid and ridiculous no matter how butthurt Petty Pet was. I'll give him a look with a fresh start for sure, esp since it costs the Browns nothing extra. I'm really failing to see your logic in cutting him other than you being as butthurt at petty Pett.BR1986FB;1787217 wrote:You lost me at "very talented young corner." I agree with that on Gilbert, won't hurt to see if it was him or the coaching staff. Hell, had Manziel not been a train wreck off the field, I'd have given him a shot too. Especially with the deals being guaranteed regardless.
If through the pre-season he still blows cut him then.

At the very least have him return punts and kick offs. Fuck.

The impression that I got on Gilbert is that they did everything in their power to hand him the job but he was just THAT bad. I do agree that he should've been at least worked in as a returner.Commander of Awesome;1787220 wrote:I also think it's fairly safe to safe the last coaching staff was a bunch of fucking idiots. How I imagine the Browns front office meetings will be while trying to fill the 2016 roster....

Browns signed Rahim Moore.
"Moore was a disaster his only season in Houston, getting benched after seven games and playing just 451 snaps."
Oh...great.

I like how how my notification on my phone from Bleacher Report it added..."Moore was the 54th ranked Safety last season". Ouch...

Just a bunch of fillers to bide the time until they build it up through the draft. They are going out and getting the worst/cheapest FA's available to field a team.
Surprisingly, this doesn't bother me because if they do it right, they will build this team for sustained success. By the time the guys they draft pan out, Roethlisberger & Flacco should be fading and who knows where the Hell Dalton will be,

2 questions....1) Are we going with the 76ers game plan? 2) Will Hue last through the process, or will the uninformed media/fans start calling for his head next year when we're 2-14? Obviously I'm for trusting the process and just come out and say "this is the plan, tear down..draft well, build young". But I could see others flipping out and expecting a playoff team after 2 years.

As much as I think jimmy Haslam is a moron, the way they built this front office, they have to at least have a 3 year, if not 4 year plan to stick with the same people.

Gilbert is now a very talented corner? Have we sunk this low?
