If this happens, it's going to be so frigging stupid, sending mixed signals. Letting two O-Linemen, along with a WR, walk sends a "rebuild mode" message but then bringing in Kaepernick sends the "win now" message. If they had planned on doing this (Kaep) they should've just kept those guys and they might have been competitive. I'm not a Kaep fan but with the O-Line and some added pieces in the draft, they likely would've been a better team. I just don't get this.Commander of Awesome;1785839 wrote:

It only makes sense if that's not the only move. They could very well draft a strong bookend OL at #2 and grab a top tier WR in Round 2. They also will likely have to go after available FA's in the 2nd tier market to add some experienced depth.BR1986FB;1785851 wrote:If this happens, it's going to be so frigging stupid, sending mixed signals. Yeah, but still I'd like to see them shred it down, grab their QB in the draft, and build around him for the next few years.

Get the QB in place and then build around him. I think that's the correct strategy whether they draft him or trade for him.

This is without question the most poorly run organization in professional sports.
Jimmy is bitterly jealous of Dolan and wants the title of the city's biggest cheapskate.
The Depodesta hire was clearly made to gain insight on how the Wilpons and Frank McCourt (2 of the worst, cheapest owners in history) effectively scammed their franchises. Depodesta was right in the middle of both the Dodgers and Mets in their glory days of cheapness.
Next thing we know Jimmy is going to change the team mascot from Swagger to Mr. Krabs from sponge bob in honor of his devotion to cheapness.
This franchise disgusts me, and I don't know what I have done to deserve having a con man take over my favorite team.
Browns fans deserve better.

That gives us 10 picks. No doubt some will be used to acquire Kaepernick.BR1986FB;1785866 wrote:Browns get a 4th & two 5th rounders as compensatory picks in this draft....

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can trade comp picks.HitsRus;1785886 wrote:That gives us 10 picks. No doubt some will be used to acquire Kaepernick.

^^^^not sure, but even if true, that'll free up some others.
Has any one heard what they are talking about giving up for Kaep? I heard someone yesterday mention flipping the #2 pick for SF's #7.

You can't trade comp picks until next year.
And fuck anything to do with Kaep above a 3rd rounder. I hope they don't get him.

The most I would give up would be a conditional 4th, that could move to a 3rd or even a 2nd if certain conditions are met(Pro Bowl-Playoffs)

Trading for Kaep means we aren't drafting a QB of the future, which is a complete nightmare as no one can think he is really the long term answer.
Trading the #65 pick for him means we will be taking a developmental QB late in the draft, because there is no chance this regime is using the #2 and #63 pick of the same draft on QB's.
Talk about mixed messages and building through the draft, only to gut your team by letting your free agents walk and then trading one of your best draft picks for a placeholder QB while simultaneously not drafting the QB of the future at #2.
God help all of us if this is what the computer program is spitting out as a good idea right now.
The irony of everything though is that while they have apparently agreed on the draft pick, the team doesn't want to pay Kaep and that is the hold up. Absolutely zero surprise there.

They can go fuck themselves with that too. You want the #2 pick in the draft? Better offer more than just Kaep.HitsRus;1785892 wrote:^^^^not sure, but even if true, that'll free up some others.

I didn't pay much attention to the details of how they lost their guys this week, but was it from lack of trying? I did see the Travis Benjamin interview and it sounded like he wasn't staying in Cleveland regardless of what they offered. He wanted the warmer weather and to play with Rivers.BR1986FB;1785851 wrote:If this happens, it's going to be so frigging stupid, sending mixed signals. It's awesome to go back and read some of his stuff. He totally pussed out. Here's one of his better gems from the 49ers game thread:SportsAndLady;1785828 wrote:Anyone know if footwedge is alive? Lol
On a positive note to an otherwise horrible season, Pettine will soon be gone and the healing will begin. Barnidge threw away millions and signed long term with the Browns. Terrell Pryor will be a force and Josh Gordon will be back. The defense is absolutely horrible and help is needed everywhere. But with that said the Browns should unload the number 1 overall and draft the best running back available and yes...another offensive lineman in the first round. They should use their number 2 on the place kicker from Florida State. Now IF the Browns don't flub the 2 first round choices, their offense should be top 10 with Manziel wrecking the league.

Sounds like the offer would be their 3rd rounder (65th pick) which is less than Denver may have initially offered (2nd rounder but only a few picks lower). All contingent on restructuring his deal which I believe is $19 million for this year. Sounds like the Browns want to cut that number in half.HighRoller74;1785899 wrote:The most I would give up would be a conditional 4th, that could move to a 3rd or even a 2nd if certain conditions are met(Pro Bowl-Playoffs)

I really hope they don't pull the trigger on Kapernick. They talk how they want to build through the draft but now we want to trade picks? And I saw that kap doesn't want to take a pay cut to come to CLE. He's no good and has gotten worse every single year. I was really big on drafting a qb but the f they went defense I wouldn't be mad. Ramsey or Jack, and start building this defense. But you could go qb if he's truly your number 1 on the big board.
Also I'm salty they let shawrtz walk. Benji idc he was overrated and not every good. Sucks losing Gipson and creating these holes. Alex Mack can't say I blame the guy. All we do is lose.
