No one know how good Garapollo will be. But a) what we've seen in limited action has been very good b) from everything people say about him, is very good and c) he was a highly ranked recruit who the patriots snagged up and sat him waiting for their first round offer for him. The Browns have an extra first, why not take the chance on him?
A. Very limited action. Wait until the league has a large sample of film on him. RGIII looked great his first season too until everyone had film on him.

B. What people? The patriots? The same people who thought mallet and cassel were special while holding the clipboard for Brady?

The browns have an extra first, so why not take a chance on a QB argument is similar to BRs argument to draft Weeden.

I stand by my original reaction. If the patriots are looking for a first round pick, they can go fuck themselves.

If they thought he was special they wouldn't let him go. They have done this already with 2 overhyped backup QBs (mallet and cassel). At least cassel had a full season's worth of game tape. Jimmy is nowhere near a first round pick. I'd give a 3rd and that's it.

He only has 1 more year on his rookie deal so they could be giving away a pick for someone they may lose in FA. I guess you have to decide is if a QB is worth drafting over him or not.....

I was going to post they could do that, the tag value for 2016 was just under 20 million. YOu wanting to pay him that?

I'd give a 3rd rounder for him as my max value.

That is true, trading with the patriots is a risky transaction.

But, at what point do you start taking risks to fix your franchises biggest hole? At what point do you stop drafting qbs and go out and try to trade for an existing NFL QB?

I'm so sick and tired of our front office drafting shitty qbs. I'm not losing any sleep over sending a first to get what the front office feels is a franchise QB (if they think that).

I don't trust that our front office will ever draft a good QB. That's my point. We've sucked at that since 99. Why not go out and trade draft picks for a franchise QB in a year that we have a stock pile of picks?

And the comparison to BR and his weeden argument is just wrong. BR was so convinced weeden was going to be good. He went nuts with it.

I'm not going nuts with Garapollo. But i do think he has the talent and mindset to succeed in the NFL, and sending an additional first rounder to get him isn't a move we should turn down, IMO.

They have already taken risks and this is where they are. Celebrating their first win during week 16. Every QB they drafted in the first round the FO felt was a franchise QB. This team has so many holes I am just not a fan of going all in on a QB right now. If this was our franchise 4 years ago with pro bowl Gordon, very strong line, and actual pieces on the defense I would be more willing to do it. Trading a 1st and 4th for a backup QB is a knee jerk move and just comes off as a desperate franchise yet again trying to take a short cut.

Disagree with your last statement. To me, it shows the franchise is serious about winning. Winning in the NFL centers around having at least a competent QB.

But just watch, we are going to draft a DE, and an OT with our first picks. And we'll draft a QB in rounds 2-4. And the QB will suck, and the first two players will be good but won't effect our team's overall W/L.

If we fix the QB position now, then we can build a team around it. Garapollo, in my opinion, is going to be a very good NFL QB and if the browns get him, we are on the right track of winning.

I highly doubt that Garapollo is the guy. With that being said, I am so apathetic with the browns right now that overpaying for a backup QB won't even make me that upset lol.

1st and 4th is a lot, but due to this QB class being rather weak and the fact that Cleveland will have the #1 pick....I'd probably roll the dice and go for. I too think Garoppolo will be solid.

Absolutely have to hit on their other picks though and they will for sure at #1. I haven't seen much of Garrett so I can't comment on him, but Allen is a goddamn animal and I think he'll be very good from day one.

I with a few others....no way I trade with the Pats. I am ok with Jimmy G, but he would also turn out to be Matt Cassel.

Thanks for that. Very interesting. OSU guys mostly graded pretty well. Good to see my team draft well down the board of the 1st round. Surprised Treadwell never broke through for the Vikings. If he continues I'll be wrong on him....thought he was top receiver.

Any idea what kind of deal Terrelle Pryor is going to ask for this offseason, and if the browns have any intentions on paying him big money to stay?

Least what Tavon Austin got I'd imagine. Somewhere in the $45-$50 m with $35m guaranteed.

I'd tag TP a year before paying that just to see if he can make that next step.

Watching the UNC QB in the Sun Bowl right now. Nice pocket presence. I like what I saw on his first drive.

Had a good first drive, but has been bad since. I'm saying thanks but no thanks on Tribusky.

He has definitely been inconsistent, probably because he has only started for one year. It's mostly potential with him due to limited starts. But he has some good throws in there too. I'd take him with the Philly pick if we go DE first.

All of the Browns fans who watched this one game are gonna be pissed! I wonder if he somehow doesn't come out...

Definitely showed a lot of promise at the end there. That last drive was a thing of beauty. He definitely has some potential, just not sure I'd take him with one of our two picks.

Let's say we went DE with our first pick and both Trubisky and Peppers are available with our second pick. Who do you take?
