I know, Apple is crap and iPhones are for poor people but for those have it - thoughts?

I'm in the market and considering 6 or 6S.

I have an iPhone 6. Like it. Like the finger scanner to get into the phone. The new features on the 6s look cool.

6S is too big in my opinion. I would get the 6 unless you are old as shit.

Wildcats20: I assumed sleeper meant the 6S+.

My my wife has the 6. It's not so much the size of it (or the 6S/6S+) but rather the rounded edges as compared to the rectangular 5/5S. It makes it different for grasping.

My biggest question is in the features on the 6S/6S+ as it pertains the interface, i.e. the touch features and anything else. Weird? Difficult? Sensitive? I'm not trying to buy it if my focus group of OC considers it a hassle.

When did AT&T get rid of the discount when you buy a new phone with a new contract? I need a new phone, and found out it will be $450 more than I thought it would cost. WTF

Outside of buying a used one, any other options?

Pretty much every company has done away with that now, in favor of getting you to sign up using one of their payment plans. When my contract was up with them recently, I researched all the other major providers and it's pretty much the same. They were taking too big of a financial hit offering those deep discounts.

My company works hand in hand with Verizon and one of their PR folks told me that each iPhone they receive from Apple costs them roughly $600. Whether that's true or not is up to debate, but wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Yeah, Verizon will still let you continue to sign 2 year contracts though. If you don't, you have to go with the monthly payment plan. Which is basically an extra $20-$30 a month depending on phone.

It's true. Carriers have always taken huge hits to offer phones for $200 or less. So much so that it normally took over a year of the contract to recoup the costs.

Unlocked phones are going to really start taking off with this change from carriers. Motorola's Moto X Pure is pretty sweet, works on any carrier, and is $400 full price. My guess is that you'll see more and more manufacturers making unlocked phones and the full retail price will start to drop, forcing iPhone to drop in price as well.

I have the 6. It gets the job done. I wish it had a better quality camera though. Samsung's camera blows it out of the water. Aside from that, I don't have any complaints. The + is just too big for me. I couldn't fit it in my pocket.

I went with the 6S as opposed to the 6S+. My only issue is reaching the top left corner with my thumb while hold the phone in my right hand. #FirstWorldProblems

Not to mention the need for a case given the rounded, and thus smooth, edges.

Bumping this because it doesn't deserve a new thread....

But don't we have a member who works in the cell biz? Sprint maybe?

I'm looking to get the new iPhone SE 64gig, contract is not up, but I'm trying to understand this these new lease/installment agreements.

Taken from this article:
...Verizon has brought back a variation of early upgrading for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Buy either device in any storage size on the two-year Device Payment Option, and you can upgrade to a brand new phone in as little as six months.

The catch? You'll need to pay off a minimum of 50% of your iPhone's full purchase price before you can upgrade. You'll also need to trade in your current iPhone to move up to a new device, so for the 16GB 6s you'll pay at least $325 to temporarily use your iPhone, and then hand it back to Verizon when you want to upgrade.
I can only assume that it will be the same for the iPhone SE

I have Sprint. That sounds similar to their "iPhone forever plan"

The other option is upgrade quicker, but pay for the phone in installments over 24 months and you keep the phone.

The 64gb 6S would be $100 up front and $24 added to your bill each month. I think if they deemed my current 5S is still serviceable I'll get $236 in credit towards that.

I think the SE would be around $17 added each month.
