The team's off season began quickly as they moved quickly to establish the new front office following Mark Shapiro's departure. All promotions are from within. Antonetti becomes the team president, Mike Chernoff the new GM.

I heard Chernoff yesterday on 92.3 and am expecting the "same old, same old" as far as player acquisitions. He gave the impression that a "big bat" at cleanup wasn't really needed and danced around the question.

The sad part is that I think this team is a right handed power hitter, along with maybe another solid every day player, away from being a serious contender.

Chernoff will learn very quickly that his hands are tied by Daddy NoBucks and that he will have to be very creative.

Kipnis and Brantley finish the year #1 and #2 in the AL in doubles and yet we struggle to score runs. That ought to be enough evidence that we need somebody to drive some damn runs in from the middle of the order.

One would think. It's so damn frustrating too because I think if they get that guy, they will at least be a playoff team.

Off topic, but still Tribe related, what are your thoughts on this fan suing the Tribe?

Not great news on Brantley. Hopefully the surgery goes well. It seems guys who miss spring training always seem to struggle to catch up on the season.

Since he has been with the organization, I am sure he is well aware.

SMH. I just hate shit like this, and I'm surprised the judges actually let it go this far.

In this day and age, you are surprised by this?

The plaintiff is claiming they were "intimidated" by the usher crossing her arms. Had she forced them to move, distracting them so he got hit by the ball, I could see where they had a beef. Doesn't seem like that was the case.

Sucks that Brantley tried to rehab instead of just having surgery. Gonna cost them a month of playing time probably, a stretch in which they have been less than stellar in the past couple of years.

And then I will get to read posts about "it's early, don't worry".

Like the NFL and unlike the NBA, every game does count in MLB unless you just blow away your division opponents. How many times in the last 5-10 years have we said "if they had only started faster" or the one year they finished one game out?

No surprise here but Lindor is a finalist for Rookie of the Year which will be announced Monday.

Yeah. The Indians are a lot like the Blue Jackets in that regard. Play good for a good portion of the year, but struggle to overcome starting out like shit. It's the sort of thing that when it happens consistently, you wonder why it always happens and if there's anything that can be done to fix it.

Right. By waiting he got to be second in the voting.

To be frank, guys....I could care less if he got rookie of the year. It'd be nice for him, but what really matters is how he performs, and for how long he performs in a tribe uni. Kluber wins the Cy Young in 2014...did it make a difference in 2015? What matters is that Klubes will be doing his thing in a Tribe uniform for some time to come(I hope).

I don't care about that either. My point if he was good enough to get that many votes for ROY by playing 60% of the season, then it would have been nice to have that production for the other 40%. The tribe sure as hell could have used it.
