Tomlin mainly for long relief purposes to start the season with the 4 man rotation in April

I read that Bauer isn't a lock for the rotation now. I guess Bauer, Tomlin, and Anderson are all up for the 4th and 5th spots. One of the beat writers said Anderson may have locked up the number 4 spot. We should find out soon enough.

Getting close. I've managed to curb my enthusiasm so far after being very high on these guys the last few couple years only to be disappointed but it's hard not to get excited. The staff should be excellent....bullpens are bullpens...you never really know year to year with them. A healthy Yan Gomes should really help and Napoli's promising spring have me thinking we could have a couple guys who can knock it out of the park every once in a while.

Anybody heading to the yard next Monday? Extended forecast...39 and rain. Nice. Hopefully that changes.

^^^I heard 43 degrees game time and 30% chance of rain....yeah not balmy. DaughterHits2 wanted the tix for opening day and I gave them to her...I'm glad I did. I'm planning to go and sit in he Terrace club for the Wednesday game.

All three guys...Anderson, Bauer and Tomlin had good last outings. It's a nice problem to have.

Don't forget about Tomlin's stick for the inter-league games! ;-)

Anderson 4th starter.
Tomlin 5th.

Bauer to the pen.

Interesting. 92.3 saying he has also had some clashes with coaches this offseason. Hopefully this doesn't affect him mentally, as he seems a little sensitive to this type of thing.

It really doesn't make much difference in the scheme of things, because you know that by the time July rolls around, the team will have used at least 7 different starting pitchers.

Basically, Francona is leaving things the way they ended last year...Anderson nor Tomlin did anything to lose their starter roles this spring, so Bauer will have to wait for his opportunity to get back in.

I read something (may have been posted here...don't recall) that the Tribe wanted him to focus on his command this offseason while he wanted to focus on adding velocity. I don't know if that had anything to do with this...but he simply walks too many people. He led the AL in walks issued last year.

Anderson is awful, and got shelled nearly everytime out last year. I still can't figure out why he was even in contention, let alone getting the 4th spot.

No he wasn't. He had a rough 4-start stretch in late July and early August, but had a 3.05 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and .231 BAA overall. Mediocre K/BB ratio, but overall was pretty solid (good if you take out that four-start stretch, where three of them were horrible).

I beleive I read where he was the luckiest starter in the league last year when he came up. Ie when he ammased like 1er in his first 25 innings or whatever.

He was actually so bad on advanced metrics, that DFS players were stacking lineups versus him no matter what.

He did throw pretty well towards the end of the year, but I'm still convinced he is lucky, and it will eventually catch up to him.

I am bumping this thread from last offseason for " shits and giggles "....after the successful year, it's pretty interesting to re-read our thoughts and reactions to the moves that built this championship team, and the prognistications of the OC's "front office". :D

Have fun reading thru this!

Fun read.

TBone calling for Tito to let Davis run. Nice call!

Anybody remember what were the breaking points for BR and Footwedge to quit posting?

Well, BR left cause he couldn't take any kind of joke. Not sure I've ever seen roid rage come through a keyboard, but he pulled it off daily. He eventually made a stupid bet or prediction saying he would never come back to site if XX happens. It did, he left but came back, got called out and left for good.

Footwedge was a terrible troll who finally got outed and couldn't take the backlash, if I recall.

TY. Kinda what I thought. Just wanted some other input.

BR..... good peg.

Footwedge......outed how?

I laugh from time to time thinking about he and Hits calling each other dicks on some sort of issue, like the Pomeranz trade for Ubaldo.

I don't recall that exactly but if you get into it with Hits...you need to take a long look in the mirror. He is about as level headed as it gets around here.

Laley23 hit the nail on the head on BR. He had some good takes but wow if you didn't agree with him it turned into "HULK SMASH."

Footwedge was a troll who ranked up their with two of our current basement dwellers.

I don't think it was me who got into it with footwedge, we had our disagreements but I rarely ever get personal or engage in name calling.

I actually hated his political takes more than his baseball acumen.

I am not one to defend footwedge, but I wouldn't consider him a troll. He legitimately was rooting for all Cleveland teams he just was a moron that clearly was out of touch with reality on how each team should turn into a winner. I think his blow up moment was when he realized Manziel was the worst pick in NFL history. He went all in on Manziel. If footwedge was posting during the cavs and tribe run he would have enjoyed the ride just as we all did. Iqqy on the other hand is just a blatant troll.

I enjoyed BR's posts, but he had a lot of hot takes with nothing to really back it up. One that got me was he said the Cavs were mentally weak. This was the same team that made it to the 2015 finals with a depleted roster. I wish he was around for the title, because I'm sure some of us would have made him eat his crow. Just as other posters have mentioned he would get offended pretty quickly. He took his ball and went home but then came back to this site numerous times before finally never coming back.

Yes, think back. It was on an Indians thread and he called you a dick and you returned the favor.

Like TBone was saying........Hits is very level headed. But one time Footwedge made that comment to him and Hits fired it right back.
