If Temple wins out, with wins over Memphis and Houston, you don't think they'd be in the conversation?SportsAndLady;1760985 wrote:We are talking about the college football playoff. As in, top 4 teams in the country.

I could see it. They would more than likely have to beat Memphis twice as well. Would they get in? No but they would be easily top 10. Which as an ND fan I would love that lollhslep134;1760987 wrote:If Temple wins out, with wins over Memphis and Houston, you don't think they'd be in the conversation?
Doesn't really matter though, as I think Houston and Memphis are both better and won't lose to Temple.Crimson streak;1760991 wrote:I could see it. I agree. I was actually surprised at how well temple played Saturday. Better than I thought they would be. Even though the game should have been over in the first half if it wasn't for dumb redzone turnoverslhslep134;1760994 wrote:Doesn't really matter though, as I think Houston and Memphis are both better and won't lose to Temple.
I already told you.Azubuike24;1760992 wrote:I just want the answer as to why 13-0 Memphis is irrelevant but 12-0 Baylor is considered a playoff lock. Not anyone else, just Memphis vs Baylor.
It contradicts what the committee says on ESPN or to the public. You don't actually know how they think behind those doors. And if last year said anything, it's that conference affiliation matters (Baylor and TCU being left out over OSU despite probably having better "numbers").Azubuike24;1761000 wrote:Yet this contradicts the committee.
...and how does it account for a 1-loss Notre Dame over a 0-loss Memphis? Is not having a conference not a factor?
You think the everything the committee says is what they ACTUALLY do?Azubuike24;1761000 wrote:Yet this contradicts the committee.

memphis is the only mid major with a shot. They win out and enough crazy shit happens, they have a shot.Azubuike24;1760992 wrote:I just want the answer as to why 13-0 Memphis is irrelevant but 12-0 Baylor is considered a playoff lock. Not anyone else, just Memphis vs Baylor.
My bad if I misinterpreted. I took your post as saying that even if Baylor wins out, they'd be on the outside looking in. I don't think that's the case. I think if they win out, they are in. But I would say they're fucking because they won't end up undefeated. Worst thing that could happen to the Big 12 is Baylor dropping the games to OK State and OU, but beating TCU. Which would basically guarantee no Big 12 representation in the CFP.FatHobbit;1760915 wrote:Lol I'm not sure we disagree.Aren't you saying they're fucked?
I think the reason why ND is #5 is because, if the consensus is that Clemson is #1, ND proved they were basically on the same level as Clemson. The fact they lost at Clemson...at night...in a hurricane...and had a shot at a 2pt conversion that would have tied it at the end...gives the impression that Clemson is only slightly better than ND. Right or wrong, I think that's why ND is so high.0311sdp;1760957 wrote:Notre Dame at # 5 is a bigger joke than Alabama at #4. Of the top 10 teams, other than Iowa who does ND beat head to head? No One. I have no problem with Clemson being #1 for now but they have only 1 more chance to get a quality win this season (which would give them only 2) so by the end of the year an unbeaten team out of the BIG 12 will have a much better resume than Clemson, who if they would happen to lose a game would be out.
Temple's defense is pretty good but their loss to Notre Dame will keep them out and I don't see them running the table against Memphis, Houston and Navy.Azubuike24;1760984 wrote:Temple?
Nobody mentioned Temple as a playoff contender. My mention of them was more of, what if they go 10-3, losses to ND, Memphis and Memphis in the AAC title game. That's still a quality win. A win that is as good or better than Oklahoma or Oklahoma State would be...Con_Alma;1761013 wrote:Temple's defense is pretty good but their loss to Notre Dame will keep them out and I don't see them running the table against Memphis, Houston and Navy.
I understand. I read the thread. I was simply adding to your posts with my thoughts. I wasn't contesting them.Azubuike24;1761020 wrote:Nobody mentioned Temple as a playoff contender. What Memphis needs is ole miss to win the SEC. Which won't happen bc ole miss isn't goodAzubuike24;1761024 wrote:It's cool. And I know I'm bringing up a lot of what ifs. There's going to be a lot more clarity after this weekend.
