Ole Miss won't beat LSU. They are not even as good as they were last year with a much worse QB. They couldn't have gotten any luckier than they did with Alabama. I think that they lose to both LSU and Texas A&M (who may be the best team in the west ) But I still think that Alabama will win out and represent the west. Even though I think Bama beats Georgia this Saturday, I think Georgia is the best of the East

Pretty good observations there 0311...I think you may very well be right about everything except Bama working its way back in.

I don't want Bama to work their way back in but I'm just not sold on any of the rest of the west right now. I really liked LSU (even though I'm not sure that they can throw the ball and I think that if they can't throw Bama is big enough in their front seven to at least slow down the LSU running game) until the Syracuse game and Texas A&M until Arkansas. Seems to be a lot of pretty good teams but no great team. The same could be said for Ohio State and Michigan State right now, neither has been that impressive so far. The BiG 12 plays no defense and the ACC appears to be having a down season.

If looking at the season as a whole so far I'd go with:

1. Northwestern
2. Utah
3. Clemson
4. LSU

Of 127 FBS schools, 6 have led by 13+ every game. Florida St, Baylor, LSU, Navy, Temple & Tennessee. The Vols are 2-3. Those others are 20-0.

For whatever reason I always root for Northwestern and they start out great but then flame out by the end of the season. I'm real curious to see how they do at Michigan next weekend.

I'm also curious to see if Utah can keep it going.

Two big 12 teams and nobody from the sec or acc? I doubt that very much. (Although I would enjoy the sec getting shut out)

I think what we're starting to see is...the 1-loss teams are all going to creep back up. Teams are dropping like flies and there are already only 15 true unbeaten contenders left. Legitimate playoff eligible teams...and who they play in the next 3 weeks.

Florida State (at Georgia Tech)
Clemson
Oklahoma (at Kansas State)
TCU (at Kansas State)
Baylor
Oklahoma State (at West Virginia
Ohio State
Michigan State (at Michigan)
Northwestern (at Michigan, vs Iowa, at Nebraska)
Iowa (at Northwestern)
California (at Utah, at UCLA)
Utah (vs California, at USC)
Florida (at Missouri, at LSU)
Texas A&M (vs Alabama, at Mississippi)
LSU (vs Florida)

Arguably by the last weekend of October, we will be looking at maybe maybe a half dozen unbeaten teams. And those teams could literally be TCU/Baylor/Oklahoma, Ohio State/Michigan State and Clemson/Florida State...all who eventually will play each other.

If an SEC or Pac 12 team finishes with 1 loss, they will have enough decent wins to be in the playoff because the top teams in the other leagues all play each other.

Ohio State (Play so far doesn't deserve a spot but I'm a homer so until they lose they're still in)
LSU/Alabama winner -LSU has no QB I still think Alabama runs the table and gets in
Utah- (I think they lose at least 2 games but right now besides Clemson who else?)
TCU/Baylor winner (I like their offenses but neither one plays championship calibur defense) Oregon form past years

Logistically, this scenario is basically impossible.

It would mean Alabama beats LSU, and wins the SEC title game...yet LSU is #2 and Alabama #3?

And would two 1-loss teams be ahead of an unbeaten Baylor? Unless you're saying that Baylor loses once, but somehow beats TCU and TCU loses to someone else as well (because the H2H winner of that game wins the league)?

Also, a 1-loss Big 12 team has no chance of making the playoff.

I know it's not possible, I was just picking my 4 best teams right now, put Clemson 3rd and 2nd would be LSU/Alabama with Ohio State 1st for an end of the year playoff. Conference champions B1G Ohio State Big 12 Baylor, SEC Alabama, ACC Clemson, PAC 12 will get left out with a 2 loss champion.

I think if the favorites win out, your top 4 would be OSU, Utah, Baylor, Clemson (SEC left out)

Why so high on Alabama? They already have a loss and they aren't exactly blowing people out.

They struggled against Arkansas for Christ sake.
