He was paid for his service which was agreed upon by the hosting place. End of story.isadore;1740265 wrote:of course you think only terms of dollars and cents instead of the sacrifice these service people made and his duty toward them. Well in terms of dollars and cents he could have given the speech for free and that would have left another $120,000 for these service people. He was the commander, it is the least he could have done for those seriously injured and handicapped from carrying out his commands.

Because of his presence at the event, the charity raised over $2,500,000.

and they could have raised one hundred and twenty thousand more if he had not charged the charity and taken money that could have been used to help men and women he commanded. He sent them into danger, if he had any sense of obligation to those service people, he would not have taken the money.

Only an asshole judges another's charitable works. You have no right to tell someone how much and to whom to give. You should rather, concentrate on your own good works and evaluate if you are doing enough .

any American has the right to pass judgment on how a man who was Commander in Chief of our Armed Services treats those who sacrificed for our nation at his command. The utter crassness of taking money from a charity established to help service people overcome their wounds and handicaps is nauseating. He ordered them into the situation that caused their injuries and now he makes money off their wounds.HitsRus;1740285 wrote:Only an asshole judges another's charitable works. He made them $ 2 million. He didn't have to speak at all. How much is enough for you?

They agreed on a price and both parties went forward with the transaction. He made them money and he made his fee.isadore;1740278 wrote:and they could have raised one hundred and twenty thousand more if he had not charged the charity and taken money that could have been used to help men and women he commanded. He had to speak if he wanted to get paid. And $100,000 dollars was within the regular range of his fees. $120,000 dollars more than they made would be about right. The amount they had to give to get him.HitsRus;1740292 wrote:He made them $ 2 million. He didn't have to speak at all. How much is enough for you?

He was Commander in Chief of the American military at a time of war. He sent the people into combat where they received horrendous wounds. Now he charges the charity whose function it is to help them. That is despicable.DeyDurkie5;1740295 wrote:They agreed on a price and both parties went forward with the transaction. He chose to go into service. He knew the consequences. They agreed on a price for his appearance, simple as that.isadore;1740300 wrote:He was Commander in Chief of the American military at a time of war. He hasn't been CiC in over 6 years. At some point, you have to stop making excuses for Obama by blaming Bush.isadore;1740322 wrote:as commander in chief he does

1. that is your opinion of Obama, not shared by 10 of millions of other Americans.gut;1740343 wrote:He hasn't been CiC in over 6 years. At some point, you have to stop making excuses for Obama by blaming Bush.

2. He was the Commander in Chief who sent us into the wars where these people were injured because of his poorly thought out strategies and his lack of preparations. Their wounds are on him.

I figured this must have just happened which is why it's being brought up, but it happened 3 years ago. Makes all of this bitching about it even more ridiculous.
