...with the confederate flag gone as a symbol of hate, the Klan will become a softer & more understanding organization!

Get it over it. It should have never been there in the first place. It won't do anything to help racism but the flag of treasonous losers has no business flying on government property. If some red neck clown wants to fly it on their doublewide, go for it. No one is preventing you from doing it.

History is written by the winners. And fighting for freedom from tyranny is quite a bit different than fighting because you want to keep the right to own human beings as property.

I am a libertarian and support States Rights but this idea the confederacy was fighting for States rights is ridiculous.

In South Carolina declaration of secession they said they were doing it because of the hostility of the non slave holding States to the institution of slavery.

Mississippi said a blow to slavery was a blow to commerce and civilization.

I do find the Liberals crazy on this as well, acting as if this will lead to universal brotherhood, always pretending they are for minorities and ending racism while their economic and social programs keep people buried in generational poverty and imprisonment.

I will be the first to say that some take the name of this piece of cloth to racial hatred, but what about those that see it as where they came from with no hate in mind? Is it fair for them to see something that means a great deal to them be trampled down and the white house be lit up in rainbow days before? If you choose to call me stupid that's your right, but realize one thing, hate and love are both from the heart. There is one way to gain respect and many ways to lose respect. Our leaders of this country could care less who has respect for them and who doesn't, it doesn't seem fit their agenda.

from its inception it was a flag of hate, representing an army of a nation established for the purpose of protecting and expanding slavery

Maybe if the people of SC take it to SCOTUS they can have their colors illuminated on the white house as well.

Dude you are fucking delusional. The flag represents hate and white supremacy bottom line. I was born and raised in Georgia and the guys that were flying their flags high were the ones burning and vandalizing my fathers business. They were the same clowns that tried to run him out of an area he had been in for years because he wasn't white and he was successful. I'm in my late 20's and vividly remember a couple of guys in their big ass truck yelling at my father "this ****** thinks he's better than us". If have absolutely no respect for the flag and the people that come up with weak ass excuses as to why they support it.

I've yet to meet one person who flys/hangs/tattoos/etc. a confederate flag that isn't a racist. I have, however, met at least 100 who display the stars/bars and are racist. There may be a guy who likes the flag because he's a history buff, but that type of person is outnumbered by the racists by a magnitude of probably 1000s:1.

I live in Charleston, SC, and have for most of my 20's. Thanks tho. I don't fly a confederate flag, I just think it's dumb as shit, since it was flying at a memorial for confederate soldiers! And even more retarded that they took it down from confederate forts!!! Let's just throw history away because of the feelz.

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie were both United States forts first that were seized by the Confederacy and later returned to being United States forts, and that is the only flag that should fly over them. During World War II the Japanese seized US territory, Guam for example. The Japanese flag does not fly over that island.

I think the Indians should raise hell about the american flag and have it taken down cause it represents hatred, bigotry, murderers, racism, rape, thievery, and countless other crimes. Ohh wait that would mean the african americans, chinese americans, and every other race that was enslaved to build this nation should raise hell about that flag as well.

Texas uses the six flags over texas on many things to show their history of being part of Spain, France, Mexico, republic of Texas, USA, and the Confederacy. Maybe it exists, but I haven't heard any crying over it yet.

"This controversy, however, hasn’t touched Six Flags Over Texas and the Confederate flag that’s flown at or near the Arlington theme park’s entrance for nearly 54 years. Six Flags, named for the number of nations that flew their flags over Texas, had already backed away from the racially charged symbol and Confederate history decades ago with little publicity and no controversy.
“We do not fly or sell any variation of the Confederate battle flag,” said Sharon Parker, a Six Flags spokeswoman.
Parker said she wasn’t sure when the battle flag was swept aside. An amateur park historian guessed that it happened by the mid-1990s."

Both forts are not operating, and basically museums. Their main history is mostly the civil war. You can make an argument about the statehouse, I guess (even thought it's t a confederate monument, we gonna rip that down too?), but to say it doesn't belong at a fort where the confederates fought for years is ridiculous. The American flag is flown above both at both forts. The palmetto moon was also on a lot of flags during the civil war, should SC not have that anymore either? Or is it because some schmucks fly it to be racists instead of history/ heritage that the confederate flag is bad?
