Looked like it was win or lose for DJ, he wasn't coming back tomorrow.

He covered 600 yards in 2 shots.

And it took him 3 to go 12 feet.

Unfreaking real.

Players who won Masters and U.S. Open in same year:
Jordan Spieth
Tiger Woods
Jack Nicklaus
Arnold Palmer
Ben Hogan
Craig Wood
Some good company there.

Feel sick for Dustin Johnson. Just an awful way to lose.

My putt would've been even softer than he tapped it....but would've been putting for a par/bogey....likely bogey

Hated hated that ending...so fucking anticlimactic

You woulda put first putt ~10 feet by, then missed completely coming back than had a knee knocker for 3 that you woulda pushed right.

I've always had lag-itis...if possible to leave it short and close I would try. Us amateurs aren't great at those run by putts and often 3 putt...the pros almost don't even consider it and so often just causally just ram the 6 footer in for the two putt. I always hit it just hard enough to get it there (or that was at least my goal)....gave me less 1 putts but also far fewer 3 putts. 3 putts are the devil of golf to me.

i would like to hear his though process on that putt. Was it 100% make and holy hell what a spectacle or was there any thought or discussion about not running it by too far. His caddy should've at least mentioned it there IMO....even though the whole process and thoughts need to be run it in and win it....a collasal part of golf is also....where not to miss it.

You've got a 12 footer, downhill, to win a U.S. open. You couldn't have left it short if you tried.

I think he could've hit it easier.

Again, I would've been putting for a 6 and not a 3 and been going for a 106 on the day.

He hits it any easier on those greens and its zero chance of going in.

Not disagreeing....but does that increase his chances of not 3 putting or give him a gimme? Again...from the eyes of the amateur.

I want to know his thought process...100% make with 0% Van de Velde or was there any thought from him or his caddy to "let's make this damn thing" but with a back of the mind thought of don't run it by too far.

What can't be forgotten is Spieth was equally bad on 17 green...actually the entire hole.

dude. 12ft'er for the win at the U.S. open. You're not cozying it up to the hole to go to a playoff

Zwickapottatomus I know you think you know more about golf than anybody else here just because you played for some no name D3 college in Bumphuk but there is no fucking way I would 3 jack that from 12 ft for the U.S. Open. That was brain freeze of monumental proportions. We still need to have that OC Challenge sometime to really determine who knows their links shit. Me from the Sr tees & you from the tips I win 4/3 in match play.

Ironman is 100% right. It's not cozying up, get the speed right and then figure out your line instead of trying to slam it home. If you really have played competitively then you should know that you never ever make the reckless shot despite the situation

No I've played on 11 speed greens and am very confident I would not have made that mistake personally. You have to realize these weren't Oakmont 14 speed greens but 11 speed which is exactly what Catawba Island is. The severe undulation and bumps are what made these greens exceptionally challenging

I didn't play for any college, that's ironman... dumbass.

And only a dumbass, such as yourself, would want 1000 yards and brag about killing someone in match play. Why don't you just ask to play from the 150 marker like other toddlers?

You wouldn't have gotten the speed right you fucking idiot! That's why you're playing at whatever dog track in Toledo that you're playing at, and not Chambers Bay this weekend.

They were running at 12 in the morning. That means they were running at least 13, and bumpy, when he made that putt in the evening. You don't get that ball anywhere close to the hole, downhill, with break, on bumpy greens, rolling 13 on a stimpmeter. I know you think a lot of yourself, but you're an idiot.

Classy isn't any good at golf yet sells himself out to be. Combine that with the unequivocal level of stupidity he's shown on a vast majority of threads he posts on and you get this:
