The statement was not racist at all. I was simply trying to figure out what advantages I received and gave the only one I can think of that made me successful; which of course has zero to do with being white. I think she took it as only white people have great parents which is of course not what I was trying to imply at all but I could see how someone could see it that way. But the racism of some blacks has never been translated into anything comparable to chattel slavery or segregation, both the products of white racism. And their effects still linger. What is beyond ridiculous is equating the limited affirmative action programs with the horrors of the repressive institutions established by white racism. That is an example of a dog whistle. It is a way spread blame for the white establishment of the chattel slave system. The fact that a miniscule number of blacks does nothing to change that perspective. That's a much more acceptable problem to have in a system based on the principle of innocent until proven guilty in a country that declares itself the "land of the free".
