I figured the stats would be slightly in Ulis favor.
He didn't lose a starter before conference season, then another in the most crucial portion of the schedule and carry them like Yogi did, which is why I would've given him the (biased) nod.
Ulis is also playing with another AA in the backcourt. Yogi was playing with a white kid the last 6 games lol.

Could argue both ways. They have very similar seasons and both are heavily used and vastly important to their team.

That and I think there was a general consensus that Indiana overachieved a bit this season, at least considering their poor early-season stretch that dropped them out of the top 25 for a good bit of time. To have the conference season they had despite injuries is going to place a lot of credit on a guy who's a high-quality player and a fourth-year guy at the PG position. A team like Kentucky, who always is recruiting a lot of top-ranked one-and-done types, isn't going to have players get the same accolades when said team is underperforming their early-season expectations and having lesser in-conference results despite being in a far weaker conference (even if they got more games with lesser teams due to the unbalanced schedule, most anything is better as far as degree of difficulty goes than the SEC).

IMO, it's fair to say James Blackmon's loss actually improved IU. They got more athletic and better defensively.

I agree. Mostly because it allowed OG and Morgan to start playing more minutes. There is no doubt the loss of Robert Johnson is a major setback on offense and defense though.Azubuike24;1785052 wrote:IMO, it's fair to say James Blackmon's loss actually improved IU. On the same note: I wish the committee would look at an injury like this in the OPPOSITE (or same???) way for seeding. In other words, if a team lost a player like JBJ with 10 games to go before tournament and went 5-5, their seed would be impacted NEGATIVELY. However, Indiana has been much better since JBJ went down, yet those 2 bad losses to UNLV and Wake wont be forgotten and will hurt the seeding. Same with the blowout to Duke. That game would likely have same outcome, but it would be a lot closer if they played now.

I think IU gets a 3 if they win at least a game in the Big Ten Tourney, and a 2 if they make the finals/win it. Their SOS will hurt them though. Very weak in the non-conference and weak within the conference. Also, UNLV and Wake both collapsed during the season. Both were actually teams with some potential when IU played them.

I think IU would beat Duke right now with Jefferson being out. It's amazing how terrible the rest of this team is in regards to rebounding and defense without him.Laley23;1785055 wrote:I agree. I think it would have been interesting to see how good Duke would be with Jefferson right now. There's no doubt that he helps them defensively and as a rebounder. However, I think playing without him makes them more difficult to defend on the offensive end. When they have Thornton, Allen, Ingram, and Kennard/Jones on the floor at the same time, all of whom can shoot the three, they're damn near impossible to defend. It's definitely a give and take, but without Jefferson, they're a matchup nightmare. I could definitely have seen Plumlee sitting and Jefferson playing the 5 at times with four other perimeter players had he been healthy though, but not necessarily for long stretches against teams with physical post players.Iliketurtles;1785062 wrote:I think IU would beat Duke right now with Jefferson being out. I'd love to see Monmouth make the tourney. Definitely a team that could make a run. Beat some pretty good teams this year

They should be in even with a loss tonight.
The bench mob is going to be so fun to watch in the tournament.

Valpo's PG just gave away an intentional foul in a 3 point game with 52 seconds left. It was also his 5th foul. Questionable decision making.

LOL that Green Bay defense. Wide open layup off of a full court pass to send it to OT.

13 true road wins for Monmouth.
Not sure many other teams can say that.

Bad night for top seeds. Valpo, Monmouth, Hofstra, IPFW all go down.
He's got his shot. Oakland 4-0 against Wright State and Green Bay this year and won all 4 games by 16+ points.Iliketurtles;1785005 wrote:I was actually going to say the same thing lol. I couldn't believe he didn't at least make 3rd team. I mean the Horizon League is a pretty decent conference. Dude is a stud. Hopefully they can win their conference tournament.

I think Wilmington was the #1 seed, but they were both 14-4 and split in the regular season.
Iona over Monmouth isn't shocking. Iona just beat them by 16 at Monmouth 2 weeks ago. Valpo losing sucks, probably a #1 in the NIT but would've been a great team to see in the NCAA Tournament with their talent and experience.
St. Mary's about to go 27-4, but many think they have to win the tournament to get in. They beat Gonzaga twice already (who plays BYU tonight).

The final 10 seconds of the Denver/South Dakota State game has been wild. 2 terrible foul calls by the refs, but an even stupider defensive play by SDSU. Hit a free throw to go up 1 with 2.0 seconds left, and dude was pressing on the inbounds and got called for a body foul.

Really looking forward to the Gonzaga/St. Mary's game tonight.
The Zags' streak of 17 straight tournament appearances is in jeopardy unless they win the WCC, so this game should be pretty intense.
