Makes for the best tournament. Could have an atypical basketball school like Texas A&M, Oklahoma or Miami win it all.

I'll probably get cool story bro'd but I got two tickets to MSU/Maryland on Saturday. Breslin Center should be rocking

Michigan State just doesn't have a lot of talent.

They have the makings of a one and done Kansas team in March.
Tourney brackets continue to get more and more difficult each year...more and more potential Final 4 teams looking like they could lose in the first round

Relatively speaking. As compared to other years, the top this year is as bad as i can remember it being. And it isn't being offset by particularly strong bubble teams or mid majors, either.

This year's Freshman class is super weak. Similar to the 2012 NBA Draft.

In-comparison, the 2016 HS class is incredibly strong. The top 10 is absolutely loaded.

Unfortunately, the strength of the Freshman class, in most years, correlates with how good the sport is.

Also, many of the "top Freshman" chose terrible schools. Jaylen Brown/Ivan Rabb (California), Malik Newman (Mississippi State), Ben Simmons/Antonio Blakeney (LSU), Henry Ellenson (Marquette) and Stephen Zimmerman (UNLV). Likely that NONE of these top 15 recruits will be in the NCAA Tournament.

Then you have guys like Skal, Diallo, Jeter and a few others who went to big schools, but simply aren't producing and getting the minutes (because they were overrated).

Talent is not the issue. It's that without Nairn an already mediocre defensive team is even worse off

You clearly don't follow college basketball if you don't think talent is the issue.

MSU doesn't have even top 30 talent in the sport. What they have is a phenomenal coach, a Senior leader who is extremely versatile and experience.

Takent is definitely the issue.

They have Denzel.

Then, they have Forbes who is a mid major transfer (but can shoot), Matt Costello is a solid B1G big man, but not gonna make anyone's all league team. TumTum, Schilling, McQuaid, Bess??? Gross. Davis is gonna be a force, but freshman gonna freshman and he fouls too much right now (but great game last night). Then Eron Harris who has no clue what to do on this team. Especially when DV is healthy and playing.

They aren't devoid of talent, but I only really see 3 that are difference makers. Denzel, Harris and maybe Costello. Davis maybe by the end of the year.

Teams in the B1G with more talent that MSU, without question, IMO:

Ohio State
Purdue
Indiana
Maryland

Then you have teams with similar talent and could go either way:

Wisconsin
Iowa
Michigan (who I would say is closer to more talent for sure than not, but their bench is bad)

...and some of the other conferences have just as many. The SEC and Pac 12 aren't the best leagues, but if you based on recruiting talent, they stack up better than a team like MSU. Most of them just have no stability, shitty coaches and/or DGAF about basketball.

Exactly they aren't devoid of talent. If they can get Harris rolling they could have one hell of an offense and I really like Davis potential. Also don't forget they did beat Louisville, Providence and Kansas in the non conference so it's not like they haven't won some big games

The thing is though they've had some terrific post guys like Green, Payne and Dawson lately and this year without that stalwart down low they're struggling badly.

Dude, having 3 possibly legit players is a talent problem. At least it is if you're claiming to be an elite team.

Again, there are teams you probably who you have never seen play, that man for man, blow MSU's talent out of the water. Look at some teams like California, LSU, UCLA, Connecticut, many others.

Looked pretty talented tonight. Forbes and Costello went off

Haha, you wait until a win to respond. It's a fact. Talent has been an issue for Izzo for a few years. It doesn't mean they aren't going to win. He's that good.

So how good is Iowa? Has beaten Sparty and Purdue twice each. And the 3 losses are all to tournament teams(Notre Dame, Dayton, Iowa St.).

Carolina wins, but Oklahoma deserves to remain #1.

Another great game from Brice Johnson, 19 & 17.

Marcus Paige continues to look awful. No idea what is going on with him.
