Ben Revere just gave a 48 inch vertical on a tremendous catch against the fence.

The race for the #1 pick is really heating up. 6 NL teams within 3 games.

Another beautiful day for Classy and the LolTigers. A game where of the five pitchers they used, four have a WHIP higher than Greinke's ERA. I thought that was pretty funny, since while Greinke's ERA is pretty great as far as ERAs go, it'd still make a pretty shitty WHIP.

Inferior to 3/4 other teams that are currently in the NL playoffs, but with home field over two of them solely due to pro sports' bizarre fixation on rewarding winning a division over actually being the better team over the course of a 6-month season.

It is what it is though....GM's know the rules. Greinke and Kershaw will be a tough draw but their offense currently stinks.

Nationals with 24 base runners thru 6 innings vs hapless Braves. Harper 0/0 with 4 BB and 4 runs thru 5 innings before the main guys were pulled

After somehow getting swept by the Brewers, it was nice to see the Pirates beat St. Louis tonight. Happ has become the most surprising quality trade deadline pick-up. I was not a fan of that acquisition at the time, but a 1.5ish ERA through 5 or so starts has done a lot to change my opinion.

A strong month by Cutch and a poor month by Harper and Cutch could sneak away with a 2nd MVP.....though he is sharing that boat with Rizzo

This MVP race is weird and will probably be decided, at least in part, by how much (if any) voters take into consideration the "playing on a contending team" thing. Arguably the best two guys have been Harper (on a likely non-contender, barring the Mets turning back into the lolmets and the Nats going on a huge tear) and Goldschmidt (on a non-contender that also doesn't get national air time). Cutch and Rizzo are having seasons that generally have been a step below, but are on contenders, are getting national air time at this point in the season and at least Cutch seems to be saving his best play for this part of the season (not sure what Rizzo's numbers were in August compared to the rest of the season).
