Yeah, his second start against the Pirates wasn't quite as good as the first; bad enough that Locke could match him through 5.

Scherzer hasn't had his "stuff" since those historic back to back appearances....next time put vs Reds he had little movement, 4 mph less on fastball and didn't have his typical mound presence/energy

CF made it unnecessarily interesting but he got it! Very very impressive.

A lot of speculation....Cueto scheduled to start but Lorenzen is long-tossing and Price and Jocketty had a long meeting this afternoon.

Arod is on some tremendous juice right now.

Whatever chemist/sports nutrition guy he is seeing now will have a line a mile long soon, because the shit he's on now must be totally undetectable. I am sure he's getting tested round the clock, and there is no way he isn't on something. Guy has been dirty his whole career and one step ahead of testing, so I find it impossible to believe at age 40 (after having been physically broken down for years now) he's all the sudden clean and putting up power numbers like he's in his prime. There is just no way.

A-Rod needs to be in the HOF. Obviously roids helped a bit but not that much apparently

What's funny is how many people make comments about steroids and know nothing! Literally, nothing.

If some are going to ignore what Arod is doing they also need to put that same energy in to what Pujols is doing....and don't be wearing your David Ortiz or Nelson Cruz jerseys.

Royals have a bunch of pretty good looking pitching prospect....hope we get a couple.

Glad we gave Homer huge money because he threw 2 no-hitters and once won 10 games.......

First paragraph: we fucking better get at least two of them.

Second paragraph: those two no hitters were the worst things to happen to cinci. Homer is not very good but once every couple years he throws a no hitter.

Rental players very rarely get you 2 top pitching prospects. I would expect 1, and an everyday prospect.

Reds get Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb, and Cody Reed

Brandon Finnegan is a good piece. However, after last year's playoff success, the Royals sent him to the minors to resume starting. He's really struggled with endurance. Very similar to Tony Cingrani. High upside, but if he's not a SP, it's a waste.

Cody Reed is a highly touted lefty SP prospect, but he's 19. Don't remember his name for at least 4 years, although he was a very high draft pick.

John Lamb is 25 and the closest to being in the majors. He's pitching very, very well in the AAA rotation at Omaha. I'd actually expect him in the rotation once Leake is dealt.

Basically, the Reds better hope Finnegan develops into a starter and/or Reed becomes something down the road.

On a side note, the Reds REALLY are depleted with hitting in their organization outside of Winker, Blandino and Ervin...yet they trade for 3 left-handed starting pitchers.

That's because Cueto isn't their biggest chip. I figured a Cueto trade would net some pitching prospects. But the upcoming Chapman trade will be the one that gives them some hitting. Chapman is a very appealing trade for most clubs since they will have him under control for next year, too. So THAT is the one that will give them a good return.

...and given that you can probably sign Chapman long-term, he shouldn't be dealt.
