I am not real surprised. He was always a tremendous talent and you cannot expect all of that to just go away.

Oh, I know he's always had the talent but when you go "cold turkey", assuming he is, from roids coupled with his age, the body breaks down pretty quickly. Joint issues can be a big problem.

Imagine he has been off of them for a few years though.
I am a little surprised I guess at 12 HR's at this juncture. I was thinking he could get to 20, and he very well could wear down throughout the season.

Yeah, like for Texas, Josh Hamilton (non performance drugs, but still LOTS AND LOTS OF DRUGS) was a good story when he came back and helped them win a couple. And then, after seven games he was on the DL and has missed all of June so far.

A-Rod being productive doesn't surprise me. For a while, he was as good a pure hitter as there was. The fact he's been healthy this season and not breaking down from age and missing entire half-months and such is a bit of a surprise, though.

He's on something. He has made a career of finding guys who can get him the stuff they don't even know how to test for yet. If Bosch hadn't turned on him he's still be on that stuff. I have no doubt he just moved on to the next Anthony Bosch who is one step ahead of testing groups.

Passing tests means nothing at this point as evidence by all the biogenesis guys that used to routinely pass tests.

Robin Ventura may be fired tonight. Chris Sale 8 shutout innings, 2 hits, 14 Ks (5th straight start with 12+ strikeouts), and he pulls him with 111 pitches instead of letting him finish it out.

Reliever comes in and the 1-0 lead is now 2-1 Texas.

maybe surprisingly he said he was done....I can't fathom that but that is it.

Sale is just filthy. Since 1914 3 pitchers have struck out 12+ in 5 consecutive starts: Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and Chris Sale.

not Nolan, Koufax, Carlton, Seaver

Coulda went and got drunj at the game.

Only been to 1 game there but it was Nats/Orioles and amazing atmosphere. I think that stadium sets up great for a playoff game.

Didn't see this but if he leaned into the pitch to break up the perfect game, truly a bitch move. Apparently, trying to beat out a bunt didn't come to mind? And before any Pirates fans give me flak, I'd be railing on a Tribe player if they pulled that crap.

Wouldn't have any problem with a bunt....he was down 0-2 in count and worked it to 2-2 fouling off numerous pitches and then leaned his elbow (with protective covering) down 3-4 inches to make contact. 100% intentional and 100% would not have been hit had he not done that.

Ugly fucking series for the Pirates. Hopefully they recover next week. On one hand, they're playing a sub-500 team in the Reds and they've generally dominated teams like that. On the other, the Reds are in their division and they're struggled big-time against about everyone there. But three days of no offense after an 8-game win streak is just ugly; especially against a team that had been struggling recently.

90% of nats fans are shitty fans, who have "adopted" the nats as their "second team." If the nats were shitty, they would be nowhere to be found. The atmosphere was probably great, because the Orioles were in town.

it was a full house and guessing 25,000 Nats and 15,000 Orioles....Orioles fans did get it going first and at least the Nats fans reacted....surprised front row LF seats were just $30. We were going to hit a 3 game Baltimore series this August but we're about out of money so I may nix it. Incredibly expensive summer.

Yeah, it is normally not a full house lol. Their 4th of July game is pretty cool though. The game starts at 11 AM, and pretty much begins the 4th of July festivities in DC.

Latest all star voting has the Royals leading at 7 of 8 positions... Miggy passed Hosmer.
Omar infante still leads at 2B despite batting .230 and only a handful of RBIs. Altuve is second batting .285. Tiger's Kinsler 3rd .265 ish.... And with about 40% of the vote total of Infante, the Tribe's Kipnis is 4th. Kipnis leads the AL in hitting, batting .354.

If Infante wins I'll predict a small injury keeping him from playing and Kipnis gets the start.

Why do I picture Perez, his wife and the dog sitting at a table aka "circle" in "That 70's Show" fashion puffing away when the dog says "dude....you got busted AGAIN" and they all have this stoner belly laugh?
