The WCAL went 20-4 in the non league portion of the schedule and on another site somweone was making fun ans saying they scheduled a bunch of nobody's! I think if they did their homework they would find out that many of these non league games have been scheduled for years, ie Wayndale /Triway, Dalton/Tuslaw, Hillsdale/Loudonville. I , myself am proud of the WCAL for doing so well in non conf. games, I can remember not too long ago it was 10-14!!!! On a side note I saw that two head coaches from WCAL schools have sons starting at QB. I wonder how difficult it is to coach your own son?

One point is all that is necessary to win. Why?

It happens. It has happened to Smithville in years past, so I'm familiar with the feeling. Not upset about it, though. In down years, you take your lumps. In up years, you give them out. If you were at the game, you'll note that the Smithies weren't running the sorts of plays that indicated a running up of the score.

I live in Akron North's school district, and plainly put, the football up there just hasn't been very good for awhile, and it's really not a huge secret as to why. You're gonna have some bad games when that's the case.

I don't think North has been good for over 2 decades

That may be. Again, it's no huge secret as to why. They have some good physical talent (as will any Division 2 school when compared to a Division 6 school), but they don't play with any discipline and don't appear to be in four-quarter shape.

One would think that the difference in school size would have curbed the difference in talent, and they DID win two games last year.

That's hardly equitable, though. North beat a D2 and D3 team, while Rittman beat North (by a single TD) and a D7 team.

By the conventional logical extension, it would stand to reason that a D3 team that beats a D2 team and a D3 team might at least make it a game against a D6 team.

Not really an upset pick. Waynedale is 3-0. Norwayne is 2-1.

Norwayne was my pick to win the league but I think wayendale gets this one.
Was at the Norwayne game against hubbard and they looked amazing, but since they have struggled it looks like.

I think they're probably better than most 2-1 teams, but they still might not quite be the dominant force they were in 2011 and 2012.

El Choppo, I was at the Smithville/North game. First off Smithville scored 74 points. The clock ran the entire second half and Smithville empitied the bench and played everyone, but North could not even stop the 3rd string. Smithville did not punt the entire night. North was really bad. This was the first meeting between the schools and I hope the last. As for running up the score, I don't see you saying a word about Chippewa??? ( I don't think the Chipps ran up the score) just using them as an example.

That kind of thing doesn't really bother me (72-0). If your bench is emptied and your just running the ball, what are you supposed to do? That being said, smithville scheduling Akron north in football is what I have a problem with - kind of a rittman move, haha. But hey , with the Indians I understand - your just trying to get some positive momentum going.

Still, you figure that a D6 team playing a crappy D2 team isn't going to be as lopsided as that was. I know the North program and a few people involved there (as I said, I live in that school district), and I wouldn't have guessed that big a blowout.

Rittman is not that good. Very lucky to be 3-0. It will be like the last 2 years. Chipps will run up score if possible. Great start to the season Rittman but now you will find out just how bad and awful you are.
