NW & Smithville should be ashamed of scheduling Akron North. The Akron City teams are just awful with the exception of Buchtel and Ellet some years. Every freshman team in the WCAL would beat Akron North. With that said, Smithville will be one of the 4 WCAL teams fighting for the league title. Two weeks in, here is my opinion. Not that it means anything.
1a. Norwayne - when you have a huge back and a good line, you will be hard to handle
1b. Chippewa - Best QB in league. 3 easy non-conf games so we just wont know until league play
1c. Waynedale - After Tusky Valley wins big last night, Bears rough up Ridgewood and then week 3 against Triway, Waynedale hasby far the toughest pre-league schedule. If they go 3-0, watch out.
1d. Smithville - a joke for the first three games. I still think they contend due to a great running game.
2. Hillsdale - will go 1-3 against the top four league teams
3. NW - They are just better than those below them
4. Rittman - gets one league win against Dalton
5. Dalton - rough year for the Bulldogs
I don't see anyone going 10-0

Having Fun, sometimes you just get what you get with the non league games, Tuslaw took it to Dalton last night (Smithville clobbered Tuslaw) granted I will give you the Akron North thing!! I hope this was a one year deal! lol. Fairless is having a good year so far and are 2-0 and just beat Garaway! I would not go as far as labeling Smithville as a joke. Chippewa has scheduled Akron North in the past too! Looks like CVCA and Manchester are both way down this season. I also believe that the WCAL is way up this year. I am just happy that that the WCAL teams are winning these non league games, because when league play starts there will be a butt load of playoff points available!!

Akron North should not have a football team if that's that beat they can do!!!!!! 55-6 at half 74-12 when it ended. The first team only played one series in the second half!!!! "thank god it ended!!!!!" next week bring on Fairless!!!!!!!
You apparently never saw Smithville play New London in the early 2000s. I distinctly recall an 80-6 drubbing.

The Falcons play the Redbirds this week, Fairless against Smithville, and the Bears take on the Titans... Those are the games of the week. Manchester and Tuslaw become good litmus tests as Hillsdale and Norwayne will have played them Manchester, and Tuslaw played games against the Smithies, Dawgs, and Chipps. This week truly ranks the league teams in my humble opinion.

Waynedale vs Triway (bears 2-0, titans 1-1) WCAL vs PAC
Norwayne vs Manchester (cats 1-1, other cats 0-2) WCAL vs PAC

This should become a thing.....week 3, the PAC should play the WCAL.

Once Orrville joins the PAC, they could play...say....Northwestern.

How cool would this be?? 6 PAC teams playing 6 WCAL teams in the same week. Sort of an ACC/Big10 challenge like you see in college hoops.

I'd like to see Orrville play Rittman. I'd put my money on Jon Richie not showing up.

2/4th of him would be there.
1/4th of him would be at the Waynedale game.
1/4th of him would be at the Hiland soccer game...but only on an interim basis.

Per his contract.

Do I sense some bitterness or displeasure towards Mr. Richie?

Bulldogs in a pretty tough spot right now. Very young team and their best overall player, last years leading rusher and excellent LB Cody fitzwater is out for the year according to the paper. He got hurt in the second quarter of game 1 against garaway. Running game was pretty strong in the first half of that game, not so much since. Some of these sophs are going to have to carry the load.

That's a tough spot indeed. I know they were sort of rebuilding the last few years, and it's hard when you start to see something developing, only for it to get taken away like that.

I know football isn't everything, so I obviously hope he heals well even if he isn't playing for the remainder of the year, but that's a rough blow to a team that has been building something as of late.

Weather report says heavey rain tonight! It may ground a lot of the passing teams! It will be interesting to see which teams are good "mudders" Hoping for safe play by all the area teams.

Smithville 21-0 winners. There never was any doubt in this one,,, controlled both sides of the ball. Probably should have been more like 35 zip, but weather and flag happy refs on both sides of the ball kept the scoring down.....

WCAL goes 7-1 with Northwestern losing.

Bears 32 Triway 12, Norwayne 14 Manchester 13, Chipps 48 Tuslaw 14, Dalton 13 Clearview 12, Hillsdale 31 L-ville 7, Smithville 21 Fairless 0.

I dont know Rittmans score and I think Northwestern 30 Columbia 34

WCAL 20-4 non league record!

The Smithies and Falcons next week is a huge game. Surprised to see Norwayne only won 14-13 to Manchester, so the Bears should be able to handle the Cats next week
