at least it would break the mold of drafting (or trading a top draft pick for) the fastest player...

My first guess was Oakland also. I think that would be a good deal for Oakland.

Roethlisberger may be a dbag, but he is a 28 year old franchise quarterback with 2 super bowl rings entering his professional prime that is signed to a reasonable deal for the long term.
Any team that only has to trade a 1st round pick to get him is getting the steal of a lifetime. I expect no more incidents from him after this given the level of scrutiny he faced, and he will probably have a chip on his shoulder to come back better than ever.
Everyone saying they wouldn't want him is delusional, because franchises spend decades in some cases (Browns) trying to find someone to competently play the position and this guy is a proven winner entering the prime of his career. It's the kind of move that will transform a franchise from alsoran into contender, and when you consider that most 1st round picks are nothing more than 50/50 shots of being successful. Roethlisberger is on a Hall of Fame track right now. Better to go with the sure thing than gamble any day of the week in a case like this.

He may be a QB with 2 super bowl rings, but whatever team is open to taking him will not have any resemblence of the defenses Ben has had while in Pittsburgh.

I agree with that. They won his first ring despite a terrible performance by him. I think he is a top ten qb currently, but not a hall of famer.....at all.devil1197 wrote: He may be a QB with 2 super bowl rings, but whatever team is open to taking him will not have any resemblence of the defenses Ben has had while in Pittsburgh.
He would definitely make 80% of the teams in the league...instantly better.

that guy has the jets taking mccourtey at 29?
i doubt the jets will draft a backup with their 1st rounder, let alone reach for one.

mccourtey is decent rated corner and cromatie isnt even guaranteed to start and he can be gone after one year.

Agree. I don't think he would be as successful here because a) the Browns don't have anything close to resembling Pittsburgh's defense and b) Pittsburgh had some REAL good WR's. The Wallace kid is good but the loss of Holmes is going to hurt their passing game. He'd have a MUCH better O-Line to protect him here but nowhere near the receivers.wes_mantooth wrote:I agree with that. They won his first ring despite a terrible performance by him. According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are in contact with the Steelers about a trade for Ben Roethlisberger.
La Canfora says Oakland "might be (the) only real option" for Pittsburgh if the Steelers are truly prepared to wash their hands of the 28-year-old QB. The Raiders, smartly (for once), appear to have realized that JaMarcus Russell is a bust, and very arguably the biggest in NFL history. The Steelers might ask for Nnamdi Asomugha in addition to Oakland's No. 8 overall pick. Apr. 21 - 3:30 pm et

I can't wait to watch the 1st round tomorrow night. The first ten picks should be very interesting in terms of potential trades and what not.

Asomugha and the 8th pick would be good for Pittsburgh.

I think Pittsburgh would be a good situation for Tebow but the 18th pick is a reach.gibby08 wrote: There is talk that if this deal goes through...Pittsburgh will take Tim Tebow No.18

Maybe...but they could always trade down in round one...I've heard Dallas wants Earl Thomas pretty bad

If Berry is gone, I think Thomas will be the Browns pick if they can't trade down. It's a reach but they need a quarterback for the defense.gibby08 wrote: Maybe...but they could always trade down in round one...I've heard Dallas wants Earl Thomas pretty bad

I have heard today that Romeo is supposedly lobbying Scott Pioli hard for Berry at #5 to try and turn that defense around as a center piece to build around in the secondary.

Some much shit to sift through with this draft....lol. I cannot wait for the draft tomorrow. All real football fans should watch it for sure. People that are CCs will be at the dentist...just sayin.
