That my friends is whats wrong with the browns. btw what happened in 2008 when they didnt pick until the 4th rd?
That was when we traded for Brady Quinn, traded for Shaun Rogers, and traded for Corey Williams.

We gave up a 2nd for Williams, Bodden and a 3rd for Rogers and our first to get Quinn with the 2007 first.

It amazes me that anyone who claims to have watched Anderson play could think that he has what it takes to be a productive NFL QB. The same arguments made against Quinn, which are legitimate, aren't being applied to Anderson.

If he is so damn good, then why didn't he force his way onto the field? Why didn't he keep the starting job when the guy in front of him got benched?
Because he sucks every bit as bad as Quinn!! He has a poor ability to read defenses, can't check down and thinks that if he only throws the ball harder, it would make a covered receiver open. Mark my words, he will never earn a starting job again.
Yes, he does indeed suck but he's done one thing that almost everyone, including Quinn, HASN'T....in 2007 he made football RELEVANT in Cleveland again.
And then in 2008, he and his 66.5 rating made it IRRELEVANT again. The league caught up to him, he didn't adapt. He still hasn't and shows absolutely no signs of ever doing it again. Which is why he has yet to beat out Quinn.
And Quinn has done what? DA isnt the the guy we overpaid to get...Quinn is. Tell me how much the "franchise" has adapted.
Really, do I have to continue to repeat myself here? Quinn sucks, Anderson sucks. I would love to see both of them gone. If you have to keep one, go with the cheaper one because they BOTH suck.

And do you really believe that Anderson's three years at $24mm ($14.5 mm guaranteed) is less than Quinn's five years at $9.25mm ($7.75mm guaranteed and $20.75mm in escalators which he did not and will not reach)?

This should come as no surprise but the Browns WILL target Kevin Walter (WR-Texans) at the stroke of midnight. Whether they get him or not remains to be seen...

They have also given Matt Roth the 2nd round tender.

I really like Matt Roth. Kevin Walter is a decent pickup but I just don't see him as a #1 target. We really need the #1 target and someone that can get the ball to the #1 target.

Matt Roth was a great pick up last year, so that's good news. Kevin Walter would be a very good upgrade.

What about sending DA to Arizona for Boldin. They are looking for only a 3rd rounder in ruturn. Maybe we could send DA that way along with a late round pick? I think DA could thrive in there system possibly, especially with Leinart being a huge question mark at this point. Obviously to make this happen, DA would have to rework his overpaid salary, but he may be willing to do so for a possible job.

What's nice about Roth is they got him for nothing. If someone REALLY likes him, the Browns get a free 2nd rounder.

I agree that Walter is not a #1 but apparently Heckert doesn't necessarily feel they need a #1. One player to watch in the draft could be the WR who ran that blazing 40 (Jacoby Ford, I think). Heckert is looking for the Browns' "Desean Jackson."

I'd love that deal but it almost sounds too easy.


Are there any big names like Peppers that could land in Cleveland? I'd love to see Peppers but I know its wishful thinking.

Why would Heckert not feel the need for a number 1? Is it an indication of offensive philosophy or the clubs unwillingness to pay for one?

If they don't take Best with their 2nd rounder before that. FoxSports had a pretty decent mock where we landed Berry, Best & Decker with our 1st three picks.

Don't ask me. Could have been posturing/smokescreen to draw attention away from WR's. As long as we don't use the #7 on Dez Bryant, I'm fine. If we want a headcase, might as well trade the #7 for a proven headcase in Brandon Marshall.

I wouldn't mind seeing this for the 1st 3...although I would rather have JShipley rather than Decker. The guy is the ideal minny me Wes Welker for the slot.

I think he wants to groom his own #1 WR ala Djac, rather than going out and overpaying for a headcase such as Marshall.

A smokescreen I'll buy, in fact I hope that's the case. I'm not sure there's a good possible reason for not having a solid 1, well, other than not having a qb that can utilize one. I guess that's what I'm looking at it for, any indication they're leaning toward BQ being the man, that scenario I could see them not putting an emphasis on a 1.

Bring on the smokescreen.

One thing I forgot to mention...keep an eye on the Browns' with the wheeling & dealing (trades) this weekend. Three teams have inquired about Shaun Rogers and the Browns have inquired about several QB's, THANK GOD, from starter to backup level.

With free agency being weak, teams are going to have to move players via trade. I could also see the Browns making offers to a few tendered players.

Latest rumor is that the Ravens will take their late 1st rounder and use it to acquire Brandon Marshall.

Which QB? What do you think they would have to give up to get a guy like Kolb? McNabb? Other? I'm not real sure who I would like to see them target, but anything (not from the Raiders) would be an improvement.

Kolb is going to take our 1st rounder so I doubt that happens. I think they could pry McNabb away for Rogers and a draft pick.

A name I'm hearing yet am not super thrilled with is Seneca Wallace. Holmgren has a history of bringing his former QB's with him.

Just found out that Thomas Jones WILL garner interest from the Browns while the compensation for Anquan Boldin is too steep and the interest isn't there.

Not really a fan of picking up Jones.
