One top-25 matchup next weekend....(11) Notre Dame at (22)Temple on ABC at 8.
If UNC cracks the top 25, it would be 2 matchups. They play at Pitt on Thursday.

Georgia Tech and USC both helping ND out with their wins tonight.
Still a long shot for the playoffs, but with the craziness of the FBS this year, ND is still very much alive.

ND is still alive because they could essentially have a loss to an unbeaten team and end up with a comparable win (Stanford) of the other contenders. Fair or not, the name "Notre Dame" won't hurt them.

I'll give you USC, but don't kid yourself about GT.sherm03;1758824 wrote:Georgia Tech and USC both helping ND out with their wins tonight.

With the win tonight they have moved to 3-5.

Doesn't matter what GT's record is. They took out FSU who was ahead of ND. So Georgia Tech helped ND with their win last night.Fly4Fun;1758828 wrote:I'll give you USC, but don't kid yourself about GT.

I believe it has to do with whether it was blocked in front of (dead) or behind (live) the LOS.Mulva;1758801 wrote:I was under the impression that a blocked kick that lands past the LOS is dead.

My bad. I didn't clarify. I don't think ND has any quality wins at this point. So the only way I see them getting in is with the teams ahead of them losing and dropping out.Fly4Fun;1758939 wrote:Gotcha, I thought you were talking about quality wins for the resume.

It will be tough for them, but strange things have happened in November before. I see a Big 10 champ, Big 12 champ, SEC champ, and Clemson getting in before them. I think they would need 2 losses from one of the previous 4 groups listed.sherm03;1758951 wrote:My bad. I didn't clarify. I don't think ND has any quality wins at this point. I'll be interested to see the first set of rankings from the playoff committee. That will give a much better idea of who ahead of ND will have to lose to open up the door for them.Al Bundy;1758960 wrote:It will be tough for them, but strange things have happened in November before. But there are also undefeated teams behind them who would pass them at some pointsherm03;1758971 wrote:I'll be interested to see the first set of rankings from the playoff committee. That will give a much better idea of who ahead of ND will have to lose to open up the door for them.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Oklahoma State would if they stayed undefeated because they'd have wins over TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma. I don't think there's any way they beat all three of those teams. Iowa might stay undefeated and I guess could possibly jump ND. But I think they get crushed in the B1G championship game against either OSU or Sparty so it wouldn't matter. Outside of those two, I don't think Houston, Memphis, or Toledo would jump Notre Dame.Al Bundy;1758974 wrote:But there are also undefeated teams behind them who would pass them at some point

Baylor is terrible anyway. I hope they make the playoffs and Ohio State gets them in the first round.

It's a live ball until the kicking team secures it or it comes to a stop with no one attempting to secure it.Mulva;1758801 wrote:I was under the impression that a blocked kick that lands past the LOS is dead.

Maybe I'm misreading this, but how is that different from a punt?Sonofanump;1759222 wrote:It's a live ball until the kicking team secures it or it comes to a stop with no one attempting to secure it.
