If you think the committee REALLY cares about figuring out the best team then you're pretty naive. It's about the money. So if there are a bunch of 1-loss teams, and it's clear that a 1-loss team is going to get in, Notre Dame has a huge advantage over most teams.
ND doesn't play a championship game and we saw how that worked last year. If there are 5 undefeated teams and ND is one of them, any advantage they have is nullified by the lack of being a conference champion.

When is ND going to grow up and join a conference?

Bama, Ohio St, Oregon, ND all 1 loss. If you believe ND would make it then you are pretty naive yourself.

Way too early, no one knows what is going to happen....maybe all of those teams have 2 losses and a few others 1.

Still early and I'm trying to figure out how good teams are....I imagine voters are doing the same. The ND win looked darn good, now it looks a little less....over the course of the season it will become less and less, but ND will have to beat better teams than GT.
Again...lots of factors to consider there, like who they lost to. Too many variables in the scenario you described. I'm just saying that if there's a back log of 1 loss teams, ND's wins aren't as important as who they lost to would be.

Are you trying to say that ND not playing in a championship is on the same level as TCU/Baylor not getting in because they don't have a championship in the Big 12? You're pretty funny dude. Neither of those teams comes close to the amount of money an ND playoff game would bring in. Apples to oranges.

You just have to LOL at the defense for both TCU and Texas Tech.

Josh Doctson, decent day thus far. 17 receptions, 251 yards, 3 TD.

I don't think the ball was fully secure when the foot touched.

No defense at all but damn that was fun. I thought they had a shot when the lineman had it around the 20.

That was a great last play, it felt like it had a shot so made it exciting.

ND = $$

Pretty pathetic that ND fans can only boast about revenue off the field rather than anything relevant on the field.

Does Notre Dame still bring money in? I don't know a single person who doesn't go or has already gone to Notre Dame who likes them.

If they were smart they'd join a conference already.

Really? They are the second most valuable in the country behind Texas (Longhorn Network likely boosted their worth), likely the result of not being in a conference as they get money from New Years Six, whether they play in it or not, plus the NBC contract. They would have to give that up to join a conference. Financially, joining a conference makes no sense.

Michigan State squeaking past Oregon at home not looking so impressive right about now. Utah is running a train on them in Autzen.

Not boasting about anything. Just stating facts. College athletics are 100% about money above anything else. Notre Dame is a school that brings that money in, even when they absolutely blow. Given similar records, ND would have the advantage because of the ratings/money they would draw. Not really anything braggy about any of that.
