I never said those things don't excite me. A meaningless preseason poll is still meaningless.Automatik;1746889 wrote:lol wut?
The fact that we won it all last year, didn't lose any underclassmen to the draft, a loaded incoming class, just fucking loaded all over, etc.
Oh yeah....and our coach is URBAN MEYER.
I'm VERY EXCITED.
Just because OSU is at the top of it doesn't make it any more important than it has been in previous years when many people on here criticized preseason polls for being worthless.

Ok debbie downer.
Sorry for even discussing the "meaningless" poll where OSU is unanimous for the first time ever.

It's kind of weird; until this summer I don't recall hearing one negative thing about Bosa and now, in rapid succession, a one-game suspension and now this incident.wildcats20;1746794 wrote:Kid better get his head on straight...
@11W: This is starting to bubble up: We can confirm Joey Bosa was briefly detained by CPD last night, questioned and released. No arrest/charges.
While none of it is anything major, I hope it isn't an indicator that he's entering the Clowney mindset where he knows he'll be a super-high NFL pick and is in DGAF mode where he just rides out his final mandated NCAA season because he has to.

I'm too lazy to actually look it up but we had to be unanimous preseason #1 in '69.sleeper;1746842 wrote:OSU First ever pre-season unanimous #1.

Wrong again.
Preseason rankings date back to 1950. Since then no team had received more than 97 percent of the first-place votes in a preseason poll.

In the preseason poll released on September 15, 1969, the defending champion #1 Ohio State Buckeyes were picked #1 with 26 of the 33 first place votes. Arkansas was second, followed by Penn State, Texas and USC.

I was surprised when I saw they were the first. I thought one of those Miami teams might have been or even those Nebraska teams from the 90s.

It's definitely hard to find a flaw in OSU this year. Last year, our flaw was lack of experience and we still won the title. Hard to imagine we won't be significantly better this year.Automatik;1746889 wrote:lol wut?

It's not easy to repeat or go undefeated. I have high expectations for this season but I won't be surprised if they aren't met.sleeper;1747043 wrote:It's definitely hard to find a flaw in OSU this year. Overconfidence may be our only flaw. But agreed; very difficult to go undefeated.FatHobbit;1747073 wrote:It's not easy to repeat or go undefeated. I have high expectations for this season but I won't be surprised if they aren't met.

Something weird happened at practice tonight. They kicked out all media, all players walking around in crappy mood. Sounds like someone got injured...hearing not JT, Bosa, Lee, Zeke, or Cardale

I want to think so, but not sure. I'd assume with injuries and suspensions that you'll see VT stack the box and put fuller on Thomas and dare osu to beat them with someone else. I'd guess it'll be almost the same game plan as last year. They'll press the receivers and try to get pressure on the qb quickly. Osu has a ton of wr speed so if they can connect some quick stuff they could be off to the races.Automatik;1747621 wrote:Will we clownstomp the Hokies?
Even with my worry of injuries and suspensions hurting us I'm still saying 42-20

I'd welcome that same plan as last year.
A more experienced line and JT, I doubt they will get the same amount of penetration.
I wish I was going. Primetime opener on a Monday night will be wild.
