anuary 10th is the 2015 Pioneer Invitational, sponsored by Flickinger Legal Group.

A few last minute shuffles leaves a very solid field, including some out of town teams. Early thoughts? Who are the favorites in each weight?


Pioneer Invitational 2015

1. Orange
2. Orange B
3. Olentangy
4. Bloom Carroll
5. Licking Heights
6. Big Walnut
7. Watkins Memorial
8. Louisville
9. Westerville South
10. Columbus West
11. Columbus South
12. Westerville Central
13. Columbus Mifflin
14. Findlay
15. Olmstead Falls
16. Groveport Madison
17. Pick North

132 seems to be the heaviest, on paper, with SPs Lieb (WM) and Minnard (PN), along with Byas (OO), Emerson (CW) and Gore (OHS)

220 is also strong - Solack (GM), Lee (OO), Slade (OHS)

That's just to get started...who looks tough?

As far as the team race, GMHS wins it after the first round, but Olentangy, Watkins Memorial and possibly Findlay (just took 2nd at Marion Harding) in a tussle for 2nd.

Here's some names of some of the top wrestlers at this Tournament:

Olmstead Falls , Olentangy, and Pickerington North will battle it out for 1st, Pick North gets the nod if the transfers are able to wrestle. jmo

James Staschiak -Findlay 145/152 I would expect him at 145.
Justin Jolliff -Findlay State Qualifier last year is at 132.

Brice Locklear - Olmsted Falls 152, Medina champ !
Tony Caraffi - Olmsted Falls 170 4th at Medina.
Noel Caraballo - Olmsted Falls, State Qualifier last year is at 220 he placed 3rd at Medina.

Josiah Harrell - Licking Heights, the beast will be at 170.
LA Kelley Licking Heights, made the drop to 152.
Ty Yeager - Licking Heights, 138.

Tyler Mccafferty - Pickerington North State Qualifier last year is at 160.
Cody Notestine - Pickerington North, 145.
Nick Notestine - Pickerington North , 152 look for a rematch of him and Locklear in the championship. They wrestled at Medina for 1st/2nd.

Westerville South has two solid bigs.
Zach Wachalec - Westerville South 220
Jake Chrisman - Westerville South 285

Gabriel Gibson - Bloom Carroll is now at 132.
Cody Howard - Bloom Carroll 220.
Jacob Packwood - Bloom Carroll 285

Olentangy is loaded from 170 to 285
Chris Crumb - Olentangy 285, I hope he wrestles, State Qualifier last year.
Will Jimmy Elmurr 285 get to wrestle in this tournament ?
Connor Slade - Olentangy 220.
Blake Young - Olentangy 195.
Nate Hall - Olentangy Two time state qualifier one time state placer is at 182.
Kyler Slade - Olentangy 170.
Braden Held - Olentangy 126.

Mifflin- M. Tate I think he's at 132.

Chris Crumb is done for the year...a VERY small chance he's back before sectionals but I wouldn't expect it...

Sad news for Chris, bad news for the team. One saving grace is that he is a junior and has another year left.

certainly changes up the District HWT picture. He was probably a lock for The Schott.

Crumb is listed as wrestling on the results of Olentangy/Franklin Heights on ITC. Is it the wrong name? Or did he make a miraculous recovery?

Probably the wrong name. I have two wrong results for TW v Marysville as well.

Great tournament with some tough wrestling that was ran very smoothly! : thumbup:

Our young and inexperienced team got a good glimpse of DI talent......and we actually won some matches!! :)

Coach says he's fine. A great deal of what we saw was precautionary from what I was told. And it certainly makes sense given the landing.
