How else can you explain it?queencitybuckeye;1709168 wrote:Yes, he'd rather lose and get fired than chance winning.
He insisted on playing Hoyer all year last year and riding him all year last year like he was Tom Brady knowing full well he wouldn't be here this year and would then have a wasteland at QB this year that had no experience and no chance at winning.
Teams play their rookie QB's for that reason rather than forcing them to sit, because most coaches with a brain don't purposely blow 2 seasons in a row. Let your rookie QB take his lumps that first year so that you can finally start to grow.
Our dumbass of a coach thought he would get a "second first year" and that no one will mind when he shows no growth year 2 because his 2nd year QB with no experience is now going to go through all of the rookie growing pains that can only be worked through by playing and gaining experience.
When Pettine is back to being a middling D-Coordinator next year he is going to hate himself for blowing his chance at being a HC because he had no clue how to properly manage the qb position. In the NFL that is what separates the men from the little boys.

Just got home from jail...er I mean vacation...and see I missed the momentus unveiling of the Clowns new logos. So they went with a new Orange that pretty much makes them a less talented version of Syracuse and a cartoon dog that pretty much just makes them what they already are...a cartoonish Mickey Mouse operation. Tip your waitstaff I'll be here all week!

Finally got that veteran leadership at the QB position, one of the top FA QB's this year. Great pick up by the browns.GOONx19;1708979 wrote:Not sure what world you're living in. The QB we signed today is only at the ripe young age of 35.

They would have liked to try Johnny earlier, but it is hard to play a qb that doesn't know the playbook.IggyPride00;1709180 wrote:How else can you explain it?

totally hilarious that anyone would consider starting a qb that at week 13 of the season still didnt know the play book. this guy.IggyPride00;1709180 wrote:How else can you explain it?

That's because a college team can have 3-4 top flight QB's on their roster, not really feasible in the NFLTiernan;1709424 wrote:Yet when Ohio State did it they take home the Natty 'Ship...Booya Knight Biter...Booya!

General note to Buckeye Honk everywhere,
The Browns do not need to load the team up with all the ex-Buckeyes that get cut from around the league. The OBR is borderline unreadable right now with all the calls to sign Ginn, Hartline, Hawk and every other retread that has ever worn a Buckeye uniform.

Hoyer shouldn't have been benched in week 13. He should have been benched in week 7. Brian Horror show was a lot worse than anything Manziel would have posted. Did you watch the games? Fugly. Hoyer ranked 31st in the league...and people like you want to question a quarterback change?KnightRyder;1709407 wrote:totally hilarious that anyone would consider starting a qb that at week 13 of the season still didnt know the play book. this guy.

The only one I'd kick the tires on would be Hartline. Ginn can still be explosive but the fumbles scare me. Hawk is just trash at this point. This happens ALL the time over there when a Buckeye becomes available. Glad I no longer visit the OBR.IggyPride00;1709435 wrote:General note to Buckeye Honk everywhere,

The Browns at home vs the Bengals with Manzier at QB 107 total yds in a 30-0 blast out loss. The Browns with Hoyer under center on the road vs the Bengals , 24-3 win 368 yds of offense. nuff said.Footwedge;1709593 wrote:Hoyer shouldn't have been benched in week 13. The problem with Hoyer was that the opposition figured out how to beat him quickly. Once he lost his running game, he was screwed. Hoyer isn't going to win many games with his arm.KnightRyder;1709628 wrote:The Browns at home vs the Bengals with Manzier at QB 107 total yds in a 30-0 blast out loss. The team made strides last year by getting to 7 wins, but to me, it was kind of a disappointment by the way it ended (7-4 start, 7-9 finish).
As far as Manziel goes, until he proves otherwise, he's garbage to me. Hope the kid turns his life around but I'm not betting on him being a legit NFL QB.

If it sells more tickets the owner and GM are interested. The Browns signed Johnny Fball, obviously only wins/loses is not whats most important. It will be bu$iness decisions.IggyPride00;1709435 wrote:General note to Buckeye Honk everywhere,

I feel bad for former Buckeyes signed to this Hell Hole. And I really don't get it anyway...the vast majority of Clowns fans are not college educated nor do they follow the college game so they don't relate to these former Buckeyes to begin with. But I suppose somebody in that genius pool which is the Cleveburgh front office thinks OSU players might draw the occasional fan which is good for cash flow.

To say this front office is merely incompetent would actually be a compliment at this point.
Ray Farmer is the worst GM in the NFL by a wide margin. He has no plan and no clue how to get anything done to help this franchise move in a positive direction.

I'm not sold on Farmer but I'm not pulling the plug on him because he had a shitty 1st round in this past draft. He did well finding some later round gems & UDFA's. He has to start hitting on the #1's though.

We are and have been so far under the cap that we are in danger of having to write a check just to reach that 89% spending level soon from the new CBA.BR1986FB;1710505 wrote:And you know this how? Chuck Booms? Someone on WKNR?

If Farmer sits out free agency for anything but odds and ends pieces then he should either leave for being incompetent, or call Jimmy out for being too cheap to adequately spend so we can have a viable NFL team.
I am tired of the status quo where we just do a whole lot of nothing. We don't spend and we don't draft well.
I saw the Browns were interested in Marshall, but a 5th rounder was too much for a receiver with a $7 million dollar cap hit and happens to be a pro bowler. I guess we are so deep at the position and our cap position is so tight that it wasn't a flyer we could consider taking.
Our GM is physically allergic to the position and I don't see how we can ever be a viable NFL team with him in charge.
