I'm not going to spend time looking up home articles about legacy players. Congrats on learning how to use google!

And their defense is known as the legion of boom; which is referencing the D-line. LOL

They also built their team thru the draft, NOT by trading away their assets.

Legacy players? I thought Belichick got rid of Wilfork before winning this Super Bowl. I mean that is what you so eloquently stated and used it in your argument.

He's gone now. Your point?

Wilfork, such a key piece of winning the super bowl that we had to release him because we just want to be average next year. Grow up.

Two seasons ago they were favorites to win the SB until they lost willfork. Sleeper I like most of your posts, but you are just out of touch with reality when it comes to the NFL. After reading your posts the last few years about the NFL/Browns, it has become pretty obvious you don't follow the league as much as you do with college fball.

My point is your conclusion about Bill Belichick is flawed because you used a clearly erroneous fact to support your conclusion. Yet you continue to assert your conclusion is correct. That makes you delusional.

So my point is that you're delusional and your continued attempt at spinning your incorrectness is further evidence of such delusion. And if you're delusional it invalidates your other arguments.

So I guess my main overarching point is that until you can get your delusional under control, you should avoid posting on a thread that encourages your delusion.

FIND me that QB in this draft that doesn't require trading the picks an I'm ALL in. Too bad he's not there. They're either going to have to bite the bullet/roll the dice & trade up or use a pick on a QB with a track record via trade. You guys may like to watch "run the ball/play mediocre defense with a shitty QB and lose by 3 every week" football but I'm sick of it.

Nobody knows who that QB is, that's typically why they go late.

Also you're gonna get the same shit if you trade away a first for a highly overrated Bradford. Lose by 3 every week football, plus miss out on drafting a guy that actually would help the team.

Help them what? Stop the run and lose by 7-10 instead of 3? I'd rather take a chance on what would be the best QB they've had, by FAR, since they returned in 99.

Let's keep this discussion about the Browns and their need to stop the run to win multiple Super Bowls.

Lol you are basing that off a guy who wasn't played a game in over 557 games? He is a mediocre QB. He is worth a 6th at best.

I'll chime in on this debate.

Stopping the run is becoming increasingly less important to fielding a winning football team, but it doesn't mean its still not important.

You need your defense to be solid at all levels, having an amazing DL to stop the run, won't be shit if your LB's are terrible, and/or your weak in the Secondary. I'd much rather take the BPA on the defense, regardless of the position. Lets not pretend, that outside of the saftey position than the Browns defense couldn't be improved at every position.

Based on what? Seahawks/Patriots were both top 10 in run defense last season.

I'm not a huge fan of trading up for Mariota but I'm tired of people saying they would "give up the farm" for him. Trading your second 1st this year(which you acquired for exactly this reason) and a first next year is not giving up the farm. Is it a lot? Sure. If they think he's gonna be great though it's a small price to pay.

The fact that it's a passing league now. Doesn't mean you have to abandon stopping the run, it's still important, but it's not any more important that any other aspect of your defense. If you can stop the run, but can't rush the QB, or have a poor pass defense, you're still going to get lit up. And vice versa, if you've got amazing DE's and DB's, but can't stop the run, they will run it down your throat.

TL;DR version. A balanced defense, is much better than having one aspect being all-world.

Fucking this!

And besides, if he's good, and we have our QB for the next 10 years, and it's this time next year and we are coming off a winning season, are we really going to be mad about not having a first round pick?

In fact all top 5 run D teams made the postseason. I understand that the league has became a primarily passing one, but you need a solid ground game to balance that out and be successful
