He's an obvious team cancer and that is sometimes okay but not when you are terrible. What benefit does it have for us to have a media darling QB who is complete garbage on the Browns? There is none.Pick6;1722262 wrote:Before its too late for what?

Yeah,BR1986FB;1722257 wrote:Could very well be but I don't take a lot of stock in those things. Most times they are written by a spokesperson for the player. I'm not singling out Manziel with that comment as it seems it happens with many players when they come out with a statement.
Actions will speak louder than words. Whenever someone has a statement you really need to take it with a grain of salt as it probably was written and/or refined/edited by someone else

Not obvious to me unless teammates expressed that or you have access to the locker room.sleeper;1722276 wrote:He's an obvious team cancer
He might not have starter talent, but seems to contradict what Mack & Whitner said publicly.

NFL schedule comes out next week. Bruce yourselves for some "we are gonna start 0-10" overreactions.

Matched up vs the AFC and NFC west. Not sold on Arizona yet. Wont be as easy as last season but still shouldnt be brutal. SF could be a train wreck this season. @ seattle will be a bitch. Denver at home.....early in the year could be a problem, but late when the weather gets bad it wont be quite as tough.like_that;1722308 wrote:NFL schedule comes out next week. Most likely a "nothing to see here" moment but something to keep an eye on. Gipson came acrossed as pissed on his Twitter when they gave him that 2nd round tender....

Guess that's why I put the "most likely 'nothing to see here" comment. Guess it could be worse like "Browns are going to make a QUANTUM leap", "Pettine's the greatest coach in the world and Farmer's the greatest GM", "Playoffs baby !" -BSPDurkieDeyDurkie5;1722752 wrote:BRSPN

Lot of wild speculation from Starr on "hurting the browns ability to resign" Gibson.BR1986FB;1722749 wrote:Most likely a "nothing to see here" moment but something to keep an eye on. Gipson came acrossed as pissed on his Twitter when they gave him that 2nd round tender....

Things will likely work themselves out but Gipson was pissed off when they tendered him at the 2nd round level. He kind of went off on Twitter at the time. That was a few months ago.Commander of Awesome;1722768 wrote:Lot of wild speculation from Starr on "hurting the browns ability to resign" Gibson.
The Browns are probably doing the same thing they did with Alex Mack....putting that tender on him so they can guage Gipson's market value and will then match it.

According to the draft pick value chart (which is pretty accurate) Tennessee's asking price is about right on (both #1s and our #2) to move up to the #2 overall.
Even though Tennessee is "right", I would NEVER give up those 3 picks for 1 player.
If he drops down to around 8 or 9, then maybe trade the 12th pick and a 3rd rounder to move up.
We need the 2 1st round picks.

Giving up the two 1st's for Mariota would be crazy. I heard one of those draft analysts, who was a former GM, say that Zach Mettenberger would be ranked above Winston & Mariota in this draft. I don't know about Winston but Mariota seems very "boom or bust" to me. Too much of a gamble for two 1st's.jmog;1722956 wrote:According to the draft pick value chart (which is pretty accurate) Tennessee's asking price is about right on (both #1s and our #2) to move up to the #2 overall.

I'd rather they draft a project that is at least 6'3" after the fourth round.

I would rather see the browns keep their picks and take chance on Garret Grayson in the third or fourth roundBR1986FB;1722963 wrote:Giving up the two 1st's for Mariota would be crazy. I'm glad to see he's putting in the extra work but I'm sure this isn't the last "Johnny looks real good, like a new man" type story that will be coming out of the media in Berea over the next few months. TBH, the best thing that could happen is that JFF gets his shit together and is actually a starting NFL QB.....

Imo, you don't dominate the sec like he did and have the athletic ability he does and not at least make a dent in the league. He just thought it would be handed to him.BR1986FB;1723011 wrote:I'm glad to see he's putting in the extra work but I'm sure this isn't the last "Johnny looks real good, like a new man" type story that will be coming out of the media in Berea over the next few months. If he can get his mind right and learn to be a professional, the sky is the limit with this core and good Johnny at the helm. Not too mention the new offensive coordinator we have is intriguing to pair up with jff.

I agree he has the talent to potentially do all of this if he puts in the work and they tailor the system to him.DeyDurkie5;1723018 wrote:Imo, you don't dominate the sec like he did and have the athletic ability he does and not at least make a dent in the league. Wasn't really a shot at Manziel as much as it was at the Cleveland media, although I'm very skeptical that JFF will succeed. Seems like every year we hear "Frye looked really good with the 1st teamers", "Hoyer looked really good with the 1st teamers", "(insert QB of the moment) looked really good with the 1st teamers."

Lol Charlie fry and Hoyer had nowhere near the athletic ability of jff.BR1986FB;1723027 wrote:I agree he has the talent to potentially do all of this if he puts in the work and they tailor the system to him.

I know this. I wasn't comparing them. I was talking about how the Browns could put a one legged donkey under center and the Cleveland media's training camp report would be "he looked really good with the first teamers." It doesn't matter WHO you put back there, the Cleveland media "sheep" are going to sugar coat it. Instead of telling the truth and saying "Weeden blows balls' they will say he looked "good."DeyDurkie5;1723028 wrote:Lol Charlie fry and Hoyer had nowhere near the athletic ability of jff.
