Does anyone really care if Shanahan leaves? Don't get me wrong I initially liked the hire, but after the first 5/6 games his game plans were uncreative and uninspired. I don't look at him as a huge loss if he leaves.

Yeah, I do in the fact that I'd like them to keep some continuity. Do I think he's an offensive "genius" like some have implied? No, but changing OC's every year isn't going to help a QB grow.

As far as the ESPN report, I had also heard Jason LaCanfora yesterday talking about the "mess/dysfunction" in Berea. It sounds like Pettine is in the Hoyer camp while Haslam/Farmer are pro-Manziel. Go ahead and call me "Mr Doom & Gloom" but I'll predict a few things for 2015:

1) they will be lucky to get 5 wins

2) Haslam will AGAIN clean house, making him perhaps a worse owner than Randy Lerner

and

3) Alex Mack will bolt in FA after the season

Hope I'm wrong about ALL of this but, except for the defense, I don't see a lot of positives in Berea right now.

I think Shanahan is a good coach. He's gotten results in Houston and Washington. You can only make chicken salad for so long.

The thing I don't get are the reports where he might like to rejoin his father as an OC. At some point, you'd think he'd want to make a name for himself on his own.

I think he is OK. But when push comes to shove, he didn't show up this season when we needed it. His play calling was predictable and unimaginative. No adjustments were made, and whatever his game plan was for Johnny, it didn't work at all. I understand he had no real qb to work with, but imo a good coach would think of game plans to counter act that lack of skill there. He also got away from the run way too much it seemed.

Can't really run when your O-Line sucks. Not to hold too much value on one player but Mack's injury killed them. They lead the league in rushing and then dropped like a rock when he went down.

Fact of the matter is these types of stories were not stories when the Browns were winning. It's just generated bullshit and speculation. Remember when the Seahawks were "struggling" earlier in the year and there was a report that there was a locker room divide because some players didn't think Wilson was black enough? LOL. I agree with your second statement but the problem with that is if someone comes in and does a bang up job as the OC, they are going to become a hot commodity. Seems like teams are always looking for the next big thing.

With their schedule & QB situation, I see very few "W"s." Plus, Alex Mack has stated he wants to win and doesn't want to deal with your favorite word, "dysfunction."

Even after some positivity in this shitty schedule year, besides the defense, there's not a lot to be optimistic about on the offensive side of the ball. No QB, to speak of. The #1 WR is toxic and needs to go, etc, etc.

If it makes you feel better, I see the AFC North going from one of the strongest divisions in 2014 to one of the weakest in 2015. 8-9 wins will probably take the division.

I guess the other part of it is the organization has to treat the coordinator better. When the OC is coming out saying he's annoyed by some of the Browns FO guys, he's going to dip out when given the chance. But look at the DC in Seattle. He is probably treated great in Seattle and has no reason to leave unless something great comes up.

I don't look at the OBR anymore so I really couldn't tell you what Lane said. I don't hold LaCanfora or Breer's words as gospel but it's kind of fishy two different sources are getting this. I used to hold LA's opinion in high regard until he started to be wrong more times than not. I know he's a local guy but I don't think he's that connected in the Browns organization anymore.

He has been more spot on than any national pundit this season I can say that. They are just throwing shit on a wall and see if it sticks. If the Browns beat the colts these stories would not exist period.

Also i am willing to bet no organization agrees 100% on every draft pick or every move the gm makes (unless it's something like drafting luck). If any organization became victims of group think, that in fact would be a disaster.

Oh, I'm sure that there's disagreement all of the time but if the owner is pushing the GM towards certain players, there's a problem.

Honestly BR I don't buy lafailtora at all. And shanny was hired AFTER pettine, and pettine was hired AFTER farmer.
