I imagine some would see 8-8 or 9-7 as getting over the hump compared to to prior years.BRF;1677502 wrote:And I said something like this several weeks ago.
I'm happy that he's a home town hero and has the team at 7-4.
BUT............he is not the answer to getting us over the hump and to the playoffs, IMHO.

If you want a positive view, last year we kept saying the Browns can win with average qb play. They have the roster to succeed when the QB isn't a piece of shit. Well, Hoyer has given us average play at the qb position, and we are 7-4.

I already feel bad for Johnny. He will have to put up with the Hoyer nostalgia next year when he doesn't have the luxury of playing the easiest schedule in the NFL like our current lord and savior Brian Hoyer.
We have been winning in spite of him all year, and he might be the luckiest QB to ever don a Browns uniform.
The QQing from a segment of Browns fans next year over Hoyer not being here will be unlivable.
This season is playing out exactly as I said it would and Farmer/Pettine have screwed the pooch in a way that will end up leaving no one happy most likely next year.

At 7-4 only 3 coaches in the history of the Cleveland Browns have had a better start than Mike Pettine...Paul Brown being the best who started 9-2 through 11 games.

Neither is that the schedule will be tougher....hell they might go 9-7 and be the 4th place team.Pick6;1677526 wrote:That's never a guarantee with Gordon.

its impossible for the schedule to be easier, and they aren't playing the same divisions next year, but ok.Ironman92;1677532 wrote:Neither is that the schedule will be tougher....hell they might go 9-7 and be the 4th place team.

I wasn't aware the Titans, Jags, Raiders, Bucs, and even Bills are usually world beaters LOL. You're right. Its just an off year for themAl Bundy;1677548 wrote:and the same divisions are good or bad every year

They could very well face the Raiders, Titans/Jags, Jets next year.Pick6;1677551 wrote:I wasn't aware the Titans, Jags, Raiders, Bucs, and even Bills are usually world beaters LOL. You're right. Its just an off year for them
It's also the NFL just unpredictable....Steelers have already lost 3 games this year ear-marked for wins when you look ahead at the schedule.
I get what you are saying (and did from your first post about it) damn likely the NFC West would be a 1-3 record while the NFC South might be guessed at 2-2 or 3-1. But also another year under a functional coach and a little bit of confidence to close out game and Gordon 10 extra games is a factor of some sort.

Hoyer is 10-4 as a starter, and the only teams he has ever beat that were above .500 are the Steelers and Bengals.
He has been gifted the easiest schedule in the history of the NFL in which to stake his claim as a starting QB. He might be the luckiest human being alive. Teams seem to drop more of his interceptions than any other QB, have key players injured ahead of playing the Browns, and generally just happen to be playing poorly.
Farmer and Pettine are responsible for unleashing this mediocrity on the city, and I don't want him to be around when the luck inevitably runs out.

There will be no nostalgia for Hoyer. If a poll were taken tomight,I can guarantee you that 75 to 80% want Hoyer to GTFO of town wishing him that the door not him in the ass. A completion percentage of 55% and with the myth popped that he takes care of the ball is at the forefront, there is a collective chant of good riddance brewing in the air. When the year is over, Hoyer's raw numbers will probably mirror those of Brandon Weeden.IggyPride00;1677523 wrote:I already feel bad for Johnny. Unlike you, I like Kojak as a coach. I also love Kyle Shanahan who is the best OC in all of football. How else do you win 7 games with a piece of crap like this running the offense?

Average play my ass. You need to use your google button and look up his numbers. He ranks in the bottom third. This team would be 9-2 with average play at quarterback. And it's a shame that this year is being wasted.like_that;1677521 wrote:If you want a positive view, last year we kept saying the Browns can win with average qb play.
