Not sure how I feel about that. I'm sure they are going by market research with fans saying they don't go to those games during the season because it is a school night and the games get over too late. I don't see this having any impact on attendance.
Saw that last night and thought it was a bit hokey, but I see it is only for early season games. I guess they can try something to spur attendance. I live too far away from a MLB team to go to a weeknight game without taking off work early, and April/May games are a crap shoot with the weather so rarely do I even try to go.

I could see it hinder some people from going whom could easily make it after work but now just cannot swing it. Will it affect those wanting to bring kids? Not sure, to me the hour difference isnt a huge deal. The cold? Eh, again I think the hour wont change a whole lot.

Worth a try though.

Im sure they are hoping to boost walk up attendance from the downtown workers.

I think I'm gonna pay to get games on my laptop this year but won't be needing it until June. Anyone familiar enough to tell me what the best options are?

Find a buddy or two to split the cost of the package. The non-MLB.TV options, for someone who has to stream the games, suck.

This is a possible alternative, but I don't know if it has changed or not: if Fox and MLB agree (or if someone knows, have they agreed?) that you can watch regional games on Fox Sports Go instead of just national ones (last year you could only watch games on Fox or FS1), then you can use anyone with FSO's login information for Fox Sports Go.

Different sport but same concept: I have NBA League Pass but I like to watch games on FSGo using my buddy's Time Warner login.

MLB.TV is worth the price, IMO. This will be the 3rd year in a row I will have it.

Sometimes you can get sto on your package (uverse I think I've seen) an it's only $5 a month. That said, I use someone's mlb.tv password

I think it is a good idea and worth the experiment. It ties into the renovations at Progressive Field( still hard to say that vs. The "Jake".)
It will be easier for people to meet there after work and still go out afterward, without making it too late a night with work the next day... Better to bring the kids...as well as the minor temperature considerations .

The 6 PM start would mean people in my situation growing up wouldn't be able to go to those games. My dad would get home from work a little bit after 5 and there's no way we could get from Youngstown to The Jake in time for the game and that's without factoring in traffic.

That's why I hate this idea, because anyone who lives >~35-40 minutes away with traffic will miss the early part of the game and may be discouraged from even attending. So as someone with season tickets, that'd be six games we'd for sure have to try and sell.

Hard to dislike the change though, when nobody is attending at the moment. Clearly, not enough people are like you and going to the games from that distance, so why not change and try to catch he downtown workers...

Well, that's me, coming in from south of Akron.....I have season tix, and I'll have to leave straight from work.

Sounds like you'd be going anyways then. If you had kids you wanted to bring, you wouldn't have time to go home, get ready, then depart; you're leaving straight from work.

Yeah I gotta imagine it's the downtown workers and the parents with kids who can get there by 6 because they live/work in the 'burbs.

Battery --- Kluber and Gomes

3B Chiz
SS Ramirez (unless traded to make room for Lindor)
2B Kipnis
1B Moss (if healthy)...if not Aguilar
LF Brantley
CF Bourne (if he doesn't pull a muscle or something)
RF up in the air....Wolters or Murphy...perhaps James Ramsey
DH Swisher (if healthy)

oops ...meant to include Santana at 1B or or DH:RpS_blushing:.

So much of this lineup is variable depending on how ready Swisher or Moss is.

CF - Bourn
SS - Ramirez
LF - Brantley
1B - Santana
C - Gomes
RF - Moss
2B - Kipnis
DH - Swisher
3B - Chisenhall

Not really sure what to do with Moss/Kipnis/Swisher. Kipnis could hit top 3rd of the line-up if he is back to 2013 form, and Moss could suck but you need the power in the middle.

I think Kipnis is ready for a rebound year. What is the word on Lindor? I figured this would be the year where he breaks into the big leagues.

Considering Ramirez hit over .300 in his second stint with the team, and even better in the 2-hole to end the year, I think he is a shoe-in to start the year. Lindor is still the #4 rated prospect and I don't expect him to be down there all year.

Kind of wish they would have been able to move Swish this offseason. He's a great hometown guy and everything...but he was awful.
