A few years ago my buddy and I were talking to our other friend who is a Detroit fan. He was bragging about JV being a fucking horse, etc. Granted, JV was a beast. But, we told him that MANY pitchers could do it for a few years (innings, not the stuff). But that Leyland was destroying the guys career. No one is brought up to do that anymore, so outside of an occasional need for it, what Leyland did was almost criminal.

I remember posting on here many times, and even going at it a bit with...I think...Classy, but may have been another Tiger fan about how unnecessary it was for JV to be in the game at times. Why was he sent out for the 7th/8th/9th/whatever inning when the Tigers were up 9-2 and he was at 106 pitches already? It happened all the time, and anyone who didnt see this drastic decline coming wasnt paying attention.

The team will not score as many runs against lefties this year and teams with strong left handed pens may hurt the tribe. A lot of ifs on offense with Moss and Kip. Hopefully nagging injuries were the reason for these 2 players having putrid years last season. Don't need a reincarnation of Mark Reynolds in right field.
Kipnis has swing has looked like the kipnis of 2 years ago so far. His injury really hurt him last year. Same with moss. Miss was a beast the first half of the season last year until he got hurt. Especially a hip.

We need those guys to get in the "swing" of things^^^.... :D

Swisher, as expected to open the season on the DL.
Jesus Aguilar(hit .381) was optioned to AAA...needs to play everyday.
Mike Austin has made the team in relief....Tribe carrying an extra pitcher to start the season.

I have relatively high hopes for Agiilar. Despite his awful numbers in limited action last year, I think he can be a solid power bat from the right side. I don't want to see him in the MLB unless it's playing 5 days a week though. He needs reps and more reps. I'm thinking possibly could make the squad at this time next year.

I really don't understand how Adams was selected over Manship...who was sub one ERA in the spring. Adams was horrible. Probably has to do with player options blah blah blah. But for God sake play your best people.\

As for keeping a pitcher. I'm for that. Tito understands that a 5-1 deficit in the second inning doesn't mean the game is over. How many times did we watch Manny Acta leave the starter in until it was 10-1...and the tribe would end up losing 12-9?

Don't always agree with the tribe skipper, but he does try to win every day. We found out last year that a loss in May is just as important as a loss in September.

Viewing platforms for group ticket sales.

You'd think they're getting a coat of paint, but since the retired numbers/pennants went on already, either someone did it ass backwards or it's actually going to look like that. Thy clearly still need railings/furniture for the groups, so it's not completely done.

The one under the yellow pennants is green and there is scaffolding in front of it. I would assume they will be green.

Tomlin not in the plans anyway. Danny is going to be the 6th starter.

The one to the right of that (or maybe it was that one) received a paint job or wrap to advertise Cleveland Indians charities. The more concerning issue is the top and bottom row that already have shit on them and no other paint.

i don't know if even painting them will do anything, it looks like a giant eye sore.

Tribe sign Kluber for another 7 years (5 years with 2 club option years). Also working on a deal with Carrasco.

Big news. Essentially only lost 1 year of arbitration .

Is it a five year deal TOTAL with 2 option years within those 5 years...or 5 years PLUS two option years???
I'm either just happy(5)...or I'm freakin' ecstatic.(7)

Why would he sign that deal? He must have the worst agent. Finish out your contract with the Tribe and then go get paid.

Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic. Just a bit confused.

Have you seen the $$ yet? I have not, so I cannot comment.

But, reports were that it would take ANOTHER Cy Young Award for him to get to 20M a year in Arbitration (and still probably a reach). A top 10 Pitching performance wouldve netted him significantly less than what we are paying him (again, reportedly). Three years AFTER this is a long time to be playing under arbitration, if you think you are worth more. So, signing a deal that gets him LESS money per year, but with that extra year (this year) and next year (since that would be lowest arbitration year, likely), means it might make him more in the long run. Obviously if he is a top 3 pitcher every year, he made a mistake, but I think its silly to forcast yourself as that good, no matter your confidence level.

The part that IS confusing...giving the Tribe the 2 years at the end. Im surprised he went for that. The 5 years portion of it makes sense. Hit FA in 2020 instead of 2019. Get paid more now and live with the 50-50 chance arbitration #s differ good/bad from your contract.

Are we sure it's 7 years? Seems like it's 3 + 2

I can't find exact details anywhere. Everyone is reporting 5 years. Some are saying 5 guaranteed (which means the 2 options years make it 7).

I would imagine Kluber signed a deal similar to the one Fausto did several years ago. Fausto turned out to be a one year phenon and as it turned out, did a pretty solid job of hoodwinking the tribe. As much as I hate to say it, it's possible Kluber could fall apart as well...but I doubt it.

I see similar deals coming to fruition with more of their young starters. This is exactly how J. Hart built the tribe dynasty in the mid-late 90's..only it was position players and not pitchers.

Dolan sees potential greatness with the nucleus of this team. He is getting good production out of a very low payroll which is allowing him to make these type of signings w/out breaking the bank. Tribe's window for winning the prize is over the next 4 years.
