All year I've told anyone that would listen that Cincy is very overrated and that their schedule was a joke. My point was proven tonight in a big way.

I very clearly stated back on jjhuddle "Cincinnati is overrated, but there isn't anyone on their schedule that will expose them in my opinion. An above average team will get to a BCS bid and Pike will get talked about for the Heisman."

Well, if Pike wasn't hurt he very well may have been in the discussion.

UC had a great year, can't take that way from them. This was a pefect storm for them to get it handed to them....Kelly bolts, Meyer pulls his "oh woe is me" crap. That obviously motivated FLA for this game.
I don't think UC would have beaten Fla anyways...but it may have been a bit closer. This was just a BAD matchup for UC on top of all the other crap that went on.

^^^^ While I kind of agree with you, I still think UC loses by 20 or more even with Kelly. They didn't have the athletes to keep up with Florida.

Neither did Boise vs Ok and Utah vs Bama. I think without the Meyer "BS", that Fla comes in very unmotivated, and UC has a chance.
I agree, on equal ground, Fla motivated, UC with Kelly...it still could have been ugly. I just think the Meyer crap gave Fla a reason to focus.

Meyer taking a leave of absence, Tebow's last game, and Florida's opposition losing a coach to another school...sounds like a recipe for disaster for whoever was playing against Florida regardless of who it was. I don't think Cincy would have won this game regardless, but I think it would have been closer had the circumstances been a bit different.

Like I said, I don't totally disagree with you that alot of the surrounding elements had an effect on the outcome of the game, but it was pretty clear that UC didn't have the athletes to compete with Florida tonight. Using the other 2 upset games as examples is not good IMO for the fact that those teams kept up and showed they were athletic enough to beat the favorites. This game was clearly a case of being much less athletic and outcoached.

With or without Kelly, Cincy was going to get scored on on almost every possession by Florida. UC wasn't going to be able to keep up all night. They're not physical enough, made evident by how many players were getting helped off the field.

Offense doesn't sell tickets, you see how empty the stadium was?

There is a definite disparity in talent and in the quality of opposition between Cincy and the rest of the BCS teams. Yes, they deserved to be there, and they had a great season. But they were overmatched in all facets of the game last night. Pike looked completely lost at times, and Gilyard saw a little bit of what an NFL secondary looks like.

The schedule of UC might have had an impact. Uconn and S Florida play today. I am interested in seeing how they fair. Is the Big East that bad? Maybe the MWC should take their auto-bid if they cannot show they are a top conference.

I think UC was the weakest link out of the undefeateds they just lack a killer defense and that alone will kill you against top competition. When you are giving up big points against tier 2 and tier 3 teams that exposes a weakness.

With that said UC still had a hell of a season and nothing to be ashamed of, they played the teams on their schedule and went undefeated until last night. Florida played inspired and UC played flat that produced the blowout last night. I think UC is better than what they showed last night but I still do not think they would take out any team in the top ten.

There is no doubt that Florida was the superior team. Florida is probably the second best team in the country, and the best on certain days.

With that said, the chips were stacked against Cinci. Not making any excuses, because they didn't show up and just got embarrassed. However, Cinci did lose their coach, it was Tebow's last game and Meyer's last in a while. Just a bad situation for Cinci all around.

UC played the 43rd toughest schedule in the country. In comparison, OSU played the 61st toughest schedule.

So while their schedule wasn't great, it wasn't a joke as you are claiming.

Losing Kelly didn't matter imo.

UC was simply not up to par with Florida in terms of talent. UC needed to score 40+ to even have a shot and that just won't happen against a veteran Gator defense. UC's defense has been flat out terrible and last night it was truly exposed.

I tried to tell people when UC faces a good defense and offense, they will get rolled because they cannot stop anyone.

Meyer won't miss a single game. I say he's back at work within a month.

I have no sympathy for his woe is me nonsense. He's not the only person who has had to be rushed to the hospital and released the same day. The difference is, everyone else has to continue working and they don't run around looking for public sympathy.

After watching the bowl games, I think those rankings need a bit of adjustment.

They are off by a great deal. The bowl games give us more of the total picture and is sometimes wrongly painted for the fans.

I was still hoping UC would pull the upset, can't root for any team that is a member of the SEC

Sagarin has one of the best ranking system out there. It does not take opinions into the formula so I'd say it is pretty sound.

Even if you believe they are off, UC would likely still have a better ranking than OSU.

Sagarin ratings are perhaps the very worst. When you rank a conference as high, and then it turns out they are not very good at all (Pac-10) it throws off the rankings completely.

All it takes is one conference to be over ranked and it discredits the strength of schedule argument.

After watching the bowls the Big East has taken a beating and so has the Pac-10 they were both over ranked. The Big Ten on the other hand was not ranked high enough.

The facts in the bowl games cannot be denied. The alleged "experts" were wrong.
