Got the news at noon today that 12 people throughout the company (4 in our office) were being laid off. I was safe, but it is pretty terrifying to think about now that my wife and I are down to just my income for the next year.

They usually do the lay offs where I work on Thursday. Termination Thursday. You don't want to see any Invites in your email that day.

Wife going to school or having a kid?

At the worst, I feel like you are in a field you can find a job pretty quickly at least.

Grad school internship.

Finding a job in my field isn't generally tough, and my brother-in-law is a tech recruiter so I'd like my chances if the day ever did come.

I'm sure if times get too rough for ya Justin you can always scrap all that iron fence in your back yard for some money.

Mrs. MB had to lay off a few people a few Fridays ago - very bad. One of the guys came to our house to try to get his job back...nothing we could do. Horrible situation all around.

CEO's aren't the problem, the problem is how expensive it is to hire people. Just healthcare costs alone will cost a business $10,000+/year.

Sucks to hear that Justin. Glad you're still good. Hopefully this is the only round of layoffs planned.

So they could only afford healthcare for 500 employees versus the total compensation of the CEO.

Yeah... Healthcares the problem lol.

The CEO of my wife's company has a $225K base. That isn't excessive by any means. Now he can make a multiple on bonus and stock options, but even then it isn't like all of us are rich. Stop listening to Michael Moore.

A client's CEO brought in 60+ million last year crazy. Top 5 paid CEO

edit: I have zero issue with what CEO's get paid, though.

Yeah those are option/restricted stock payments. Howley might eventually get that, but it isn't as if he has a $60,000,000 salary.

Lol but the wealth gap isn't a problem guys. Like I said I'm not a liberal but when the top 1% have 20% of the wealth where as in 1970 it was only 7%. And thanks to Obama and the Dems in DC the Affordable Health Care Act this is going to continue widening

No one cares. Speaking of uneducated, you're usually the one sounding retarded. "That there voter base"?
