I think they're both top 5 all time. Kind of splitting hairs at that point.Pick6;1697684 wrote:Does anyone still think Manning is better than Brady?

With another SB victory, who could you put above Brady?

Yes, they had an outstanding season that ended in the AFC Championship game.lhslep134;1697687 wrote:Still feel this way? They beat up a gimpy Peyton who couldn't complete a pass over 15 yards last week and beat Dalton in WC round. They're a good team, but they have a ton of holes that not whiffing on 2 first rounders (Trent, Werner) would have at least helped.
Yes, things were very favorable for them much of this year, but when they sit down to evaluate all the moves and decisions.....I believe they improved.
Hell, Cincy never did anything quite as dumb and they are just stuck getting to the playoffs. The Colts won 2 playoff games and 1 on the road.

Colts are a solid draft and FA signings away from being able to win games like the AFCG. But, not there yet. Id put ANY roster above the Colts if you took away Luck. TY Hilton and Vontae Davis are the only other 2 regulars who can make a claim for T5 at their position...and they would both be on the outside looking in, still.
Will have to see what Mathis has left when he comes back next year. Tough to lose the reigning DPOY after the draft and FA period. No time to make up for it. That said, their O-Line is atrocious, no running game, WRs are Hilton and shit (Moncrief as I said will be solid...but not a true #2 until his 3rd yr). Their LBs are horrendous aside from Freeman...and even he isnt anything special and cant stay healthy.
Their secondary is above average, and DL is above average (when Mathis is there) but still not great. QB is well above average.
They had an incredibly fortunate schedule, though I still think they win that division with a tougher one. 2 playoff wins is nothing to shrug off, despite today. But, it also cant be used as an excuse to not make some major changes. The team has major holes. Man to man, give me the Browns roster...they just dont have Luck.

Yep. Ryan Grigson has done a lot of good things. Erik Walden, Landry, Davis, Hilton, Moncreif and Greg Toler. But, he has whiffed on a TON of draft picks, has not shored up any kind of depth on the O-Line and has made some...at best...questionable trades.lhslep134;1697700 wrote:This is exactly what I'm saying. Weak schedule but I can't take anything away from a team that goes to Denver and wins in the playoffs....Noodle arm Manning and underwhelming coach doesn't matter to me.lhslep134;1697700 wrote:This is exactly what I'm saying. As for my actual point, in regards to I92, I don't even know anymore lol

That's not really my point though. I guess my point was just that the Colts couldn't afford, more so than the Browns, to botch a first round pick because of how talent depleted they were outside of Luck. Your response just kind of took me by surprise because I interpreted it as you saying the Colts were more talented than the mostly talentless bunch they are (outside of Luck of course; and Vontae Davis).Ironman92;1697706 wrote:Weak schedule but I can't take anything away from a team that goes to Denver and wins in the playoffs....Noodle arm Manning and underwhelming coach doesn't matter to me.

The Colts play in the AFC South, perpetually the worst division in the AFC and possibly the NFL over the last 5 years, possibly longer.
If they play in the North or West, Luck may not even have a playoff appearance.

I can't speak intelligently about the talent of the Colts. I watched the Steelers beat the shit out of them and I too thought they had a weak schedule in a weak division.....but winning at Denver negated all of that stuff for me.lhslep134;1697708 wrote:That's not really my point though. The Pats spanking them is moo to me.
I do think the Browns have far better parts all over the field, but well....I'm losing interest.
You and laley talk about this.

They did beat Cincy, but I'm talking about overall. Basically, 4 gimme games against the Jags and Titans, and a half-assed Texans team. The first 2 have been shitty since Luck entered the league. One win over the Bengals wouldn't have necessarily guaranteed a playoff spot. Bengals probably would've been 4-0 against the Titans and Jags instead of 1-3 against the Steelers and Browns.Ironman92;1697712 wrote:If in the North they would've been ahead of the Bengals....making playoffs

Is it that far-fetched? Look at the AFC South since Luck was drafted. Only 1 other team has been over .500, the Texans in 2012. Every year, two teams had 10 or more losses, and in 2 of the 3 years, 2 teams had 12+ losses. The Colts went 11-5, 11-5 and 11-5, and all of those years, they were only ahead of the last wild card team by 2 games.SportsAndLady;1697713 wrote:You don't honestly believe that do you

Uhh the north pretty much had the easiest schedule this year, and the colts whooped the bengals ass twice. They would have made the playoffs. Just stop.Azubuike24;1697714 wrote:They did beat Cincy, but I'm talking about overall. Basically, 4 gimme games against the Jags and Titans, and a half-assed Texans team. Had they been in the north they would've been 3-0 vs AFC South (as they ran that division this season) and were 3-1 vs AFC North....making them 6-1 with games vs Tampa Bay, Atlanta, New Orleans, Carolina....and probably San Diego and Miami...2nd round vs AFC North and 1/2 of all of these games at home.Azubuike24;1697710 wrote:The Colts play in the AFC South, perpetually the worst division in the AFC and possibly the NFL over the last 5 years, possibly longer.

I see 10-11 wins if they were in the north this year

I'm not talking about the out of conference schedule. That rotates every year. My point was, in all of this. The Colts benefit from playing in the worst division in football and guaranteeing themselves a home playoff game every year.like_that;1697719 wrote:Uhh the north pretty much had the easiest schedule this year, and the colts whooped the bengals ass twice. Sure, but they would have been in the playoffs this year if they played in the north. Also, they played the nfc west last year and beat its two best teams. You're down playing them way too much. They are a playoff quality team.Azubuike24;1697721 wrote:I'm not talking about the out of conference schedule. That rotates every year. My point was, in all of this. They are, and likely would've been in. Just saying that they could've easily missed out or just snuck in, not gotten a home game and we'd be talking about a team who hasn't won a playoff game.
The win in Denver was legit, but we'll see.
I DO think the Colts will win a Super Bowl or two in the next decade. The current crop of elite QB's is really dwindling and you really don't have a subsequent group to take over. It's Luck, Rodgers and everyone else...

That's where we differ. Beating that team with a banged up offense/Peyton didn't change my opinion of the Colts at all; once I saw Peyton miss everybody deeper than 15 yards, I knew that it wouldn't take too much to beat them.Ironman92;1697711 wrote:but winning at Denver negated all of that stuff for me.
I didn't waver from thinking they were Luck, Vontae, and a bunch of meh.

They beat the Browns, Bengals twice and Ravens. At what point do they not win that division? What are you talking about?
And lol at saying only 1 team above .500, the Texans like they went 9-7 or something. They were 12-4. They still made the playoffs as a WC, despite losing twice in division.
Last year they win @ SF, Seattle, Denver...but they only beat up on their division. I mean, come on. Dont be that big of an AFCN homer.
